341 Intergenerational Self-Help Clubs operate effectively

In 2024, implementing Decision No. 1336 of the Prime Minister and Plan No. 345/KH-UBND dated June 1, 2022 of the People's Committee of Nghe An province on implementing the Project to replicate the Intergenerational Self-Help Club (LTHTGN) model, the whole province has built and established 146 more LTHTGN Clubs, bringing the total number to 341 LTHTGN Clubs.

Up to now, 100% of the Associations of the Elderly in districts, towns and cities have newly established LTHTGN Clubs, exceeding both the quantity and time assigned by the Provincial People's Committee. Typical examples include the districts: Nghi Loc, Yen Thanh, Dien Chau, Anh Son, Tuong Duong, Quy Hop...

In particular, Nghi Loc district has 5 commune Elderly Associations (Nghi Thiet, Nghi Yen, Nghi Tien, Nghi Trung, Nghi Long) launching the LTHTGN Club in all village and hamlet branches. After launching and operating, the Club has paid attention and tried to organize 8 areas of activities such as: Increasing income; health care; home care based on volunteers; self-help and community support; protecting rights and interests; communication to raise awareness and knowledge; taking care of spiritual life, culture, arts, visiting and exchanging; mobilizing resources.

Mr. Cao Dang Vinh, Chairman of the Provincial Elderly Association, said: “The LTHTGN Club is a highly community-based model, so it has a great influence on the people. Members participating in the Club have their awareness raised in all aspects. Every month, through the activities, members can interact, exchange experiences, learn from each other, and have the awareness to help each other in life, both materially and spiritually. The elderly feel healthy, happy, confident and better connected with the community and neighbors.”
