According to the Organizing Committee, the Reading Culture Development Award is organized annually by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to honor the contributions of organizations and individuals to the development of reading culture; to encourage and motivate organizations and individuals to actively develop reading culture in ministries, branches, localities, regions and in the community.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Phan Tam emphasized: Reading is the shortest way to access human knowledge, the foundation for opening up innovative thinking, improving personal capacity and nurturing national spirit. A nation with a deep reading culture is a nation with strong internal development, the ability for sustainable innovation, and the courage to adapt and rise up in a volatile world .

According to Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Phan Tam, it is no coincidence that in the development history of powerful countries, investment ineducation and reading culture has always been a top priority. From the pages of books, people form their intelligence, personality and core values. From the habit of reading, a learning society is formed - where each person constantly improves himself, and from there the country can develop comprehensively and sustainably.

Deputy Minister Phan Tam said that developing a reading culture is not only the work of the cultural sector or the library, but also a common mission of the whole society, and is the foundation for the process of building a comprehensively developed Vietnamese person in the new era. The journey of spreading a reading culture that we are witnessing today is a vivid demonstration of the vitality of knowledge in the community.

According to statistics, after 6 years of organization, the Reading Culture Development Award has honored 151 outstanding collectives and individuals across the country, those who have persevered, created, and lit the fire of love for books in the community. Notably, this time, the number of nominations for the award increased by 33% compared to last year. This proves that reading culture is gradually permeating more deeply into social life, from urban to rural areas, from favorable areas to remote areas; from schools, administrative units, to businesses, armed forces and even libraries founded and maintained by the people themselves.

Deputy Minister Phan Tam called on agencies, organizations, schools, businesses and each citizen to join hands in developing a reading culture, continuing to create diverse book access models to expand the "coverage" of reading culture to every home, every classroom, every workshop, and every countryside.

The Deputy Minister also requested the Department of Grassroots Culture, Family and Library, as a standing agency, to continue to advise the Ministry on practical policies to support grassroots library models, especially community libraries built by the people; at the same time, promote communication work so that the Award becomes a strong driving force, encouraging beautiful actions and meaningful initiatives across the country...

According to the Organizing Committee, in 2024, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has sent a document guiding the awarding of the Reading Culture Development Award to ministries, branches and localities since November. Up to now, it has received 118 applications from collectives and individuals requesting the award, including 69 collective applications and 49 individual applications.

Based on the Reading Culture Development Award Regulations and the achievements of the collectives and individuals, the Award Council has selected and awarded prizes to 20 collectives and 15 individuals with outstanding achievements in reading culture development activities. This Award Ceremony aims to honor organizations and individuals who have contributed to the development of reading culture in the community, effectively promoting the library's resources through organizing services to serve the learning and research needs of the people with many good and creative ways.

Within the framework of the Closing and Award Ceremony, the Organizing Committee displayed a number of images of reading promotion activities of organizations and individuals who have contributed to the development of reading culture.
