4,000 women in Hai Phong have been supported to start businesses.

After 8 years, more than 4,000 women have been supported to start businesses, forming 21 cooperatives, 108 cooperative groups and more than 3,000 female-owned businesses.

Outstanding cooperatives and cooperative groups managed by women were recognized at the conference.

On the afternoon of November 7, at the Eastern Cultural Center, the Hai Phong City Women's Union held a conference to summarize the Government's Project No. 939 to support women in starting businesses in the 2017-2025 period.

Comrades Nguyen Thi Thu Hien, Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union; Nguyen Minh Hung, Vice Chairman of the Hai Phong City People's Committee attended.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Nguyen Minh Hung, Vice Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee, emphasized that Project No. 939 to support women in starting a business by the Prime Minister was implemented synchronously in both Hai Duong province and Hai Phong city before.

After 8 years of implementation, the project has spread widely, becoming a practical action movement in all levels of the Women's Union. More than 605,000 members and women have been educated and trained to raise awareness about entrepreneurship; more than 4,000 women have been supported to start their own businesses.

The city has established 21 cooperatives, 108 cooperative groups and more than 3,000 female-owned enterprises, creating stable jobs for tens of thousands of female workers, actively contributing to the local socio -economic growth.

In particular, from July 1, 2025, when Hai Duong province and Hai Phong city merge into the new Hai Phong city, the implementation of Project 939 has become an important bridge, helping to unify the method of supporting women to start businesses throughout the area. Many typical models have been formed and developed such as: "Women with green economy", "Women in digital transformation", "Women starting a business from local agricultural products", "Women with e-commerce" - contributing to affirming the role, courage and intelligence of Hai Phong women in the integration period.

At the conference, delegates were informed about Decision No. 2415/QD-TTg dated October 31, 2025 of the Prime Minister, approving the Project "Supporting women to start a business in the period 2026 - 2035". This is an important step, orienting women's start-ups with digital transformation, green transformation, circular economy and sustainable development - in line with the development orientation of Hai Phong city in the new period.

Outstanding groups and individuals in project implementation.

On this occasion, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union awarded 5 collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements; the Chairman of the Hai Phong City People's Committee awarded 4 collectives and 4 individuals for outstanding achievements in implementing the Project. The City Women's Union also awarded 6 collectives and 16 individuals, and at the same time commended and honored 10 typical cooperatives and cooperative groups owned by women.
