On November 3, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City announced regulations on the city-level 'Students, trainees, and students with startup ideas' competition for the 2025-2026 school year, which clearly stipulates that students are responsible for intellectual property rights.

According to the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, the contest "Students, trainees, and students with startup ideas" is organized to promote the spirit of entrepreneurship, equip knowledge and skills about startups for students. Promote scientific research activities, digital transformation, and commercialization to form startup projects in educational institutions.

At the same time, create an environment for students to form and realize ideas, solutions, and start-up projects that create value for themselves, their families, the community, and society; solve community and social problems, and contribute to promoting economic and social development.

From there, through this contest, the Department of Education and Training will search for and support projects and startup ideas of students and select projects to participate in the national student competition with startup ideas.

According to regulations, the contest is for high school students, but the Department of Education and Training said that it encourages students from secondary schools to participate. Students register to participate in groups (each group has no more than 5 students, each individual can only register to participate in 1 team and 1 instructor who is currently a teacher at the school with students participating in the team).

Startup projects participating in the competition need to aim to solve community and social problems, contributing to creating breakthroughs to promote economic and social development in the following fields: Industry, product manufacturing; Agriculture, forestry, fisheries; Services, finance, banking; Education, health , culture, tourism; Business creating social impact.

In addition to the project presentation, the competing teams also make a video clip of members presenting the product with a capacity of no more than 500MB.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training noted that, in addition to implementing the regulations of the contest plan, it is necessary to ensure that the contest products comply with the requirements of the organizing committee and especially do not infringe upon intellectual property rights as prescribed. Students are responsible for the accuracy of the information in the contest application.

The products submitted to the contest must not be subject to copyright disputes. Solutions and creative ideas that require intellectual property protection must be registered with the competent authority before the award is announced.

In case of copyright disputes arising after the contest product wins the prize, the contestant shall be fully responsible according to the provisions of law.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training will organize the competition in 2 rounds, the preliminary round from November 15 to December 15, the jury will select 12 highly feasible projects to enter the final round. The results will be announced on the Department of Education and Training's website on December 25.

From December 25 to 31, the groups that entered the final round will organize to rebuild the test before reporting (presenting) in the final round of the contest for students with startup ideas, scheduled to take place on January 10, 2026.
