Hanoi University of Education (HNUE) maintains five admission methods, requiring candidates to meet criteria regarding conduct and academic performance for all majors.

Hanoi Pedagogical University announced on January 27th that it plans to recruit approximately 4,400 students in 2024 through five different admission methods.

Method 1 (PT1) uses the results of the high school graduation exam. Candidates applying through this method must have achieved a "good" conduct rating in at least three years of high school.

Method 2 (PT2) is direct admission, applied to candidates with good conduct and excellent academic performance in all three years, and who also meet one of the following conditions: having participated in the national-level excellent student selection competition; being a student of a specialized school or a high school affiliated with Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City University of Education; winning first, second, or third prize in the provincial or city-level excellent student competition; possessing an international foreign language certificate such as IELTS, TOEFL iBT, TOEIC (English), DELF, TCF (French), HSK, HSKK (Chinese), or an international computer skills certificate such as MOS.

Candidates in the top three groups who possess international English certificates such as IELTS or TOEFL iBT will receive bonus points when applying to the English-taught Mathematics Education, English Language Education, and English Language programs. The bonus points range from 1 to 3, corresponding to an IELTS score of 6.5 or higher or equivalent.

Specifically for the Music Education, Fine Arts Education, and Physical Education majors, the school offers direct admission to candidates with good conduct and academic performance, along with one of the following conditions: graduating with honors from a college or vocational school specializing in arts; winning a provincial-level Music or Fine Arts award; being a level 1 athlete or participating in national-level competitions for high school students.

Method 3 (PT3) involves reviewing high school transcripts, based on the subjects in the admission combination for each major. For teacher training programs, candidates must have good conduct and excellent academic performance in all semesters; for the Technology Education major, only excellent academic performance in grade 12 is required. For non-teacher training programs, the standard is good academic performance and conduct.

Method 4 (PT4) is a combined admission method that considers aptitude test scores with academic transcripts, high school graduation exam scores, or aptitude tests organized by the school. This method applies to candidates applying to Music Education, Fine Arts Education, Physical Education, Early Childhood Education, and Early Childhood Education - English Language Teaching majors. The general condition is that candidates must have a good or excellent conduct rating in all semesters.

The final method (PT5) is based on the results of the competency assessment exam organized by Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, combined with academic transcripts or aptitude test scores (for Early Childhood Education or Early Childhood Education - English Pedagogy majors).

Candidates applying through this method must have a good conduct record and an average GPA of 6.5 or higher across 5 semesters (excluding the second semester of 12th grade).

With the above conditions, Hanoi Pedagogical University is one of the few universities that specifically regulates conduct for all training programs. In addition, for pedagogical programs, the university does not recruit candidates with deformities, disabilities, or speech impediments. Candidates applying to the National Defense and Security Education program must be in good health, have refractive errors (nearsightedness or farsightedness) not exceeding 3 diopters; have no congenital defects or offensive tattoos. Males must be at least 1.6m tall; females must be at least 1.55m tall.
