Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh (born in 1970), Nhon Mai commune, is a fish farmer on the Nam Non river. When the flood came so suddenly, she did not have time to react and all the fish cages and assets invested by her family with bank loans were swept away. She was lucky to escape death when she managed to cling to a tree and run up the mountainside. Ms. Thanh had to take shelter in the forest for nearly a week, surviving by eating forest trees and leaves to survive.

Upon receiving the news, Nhon Mai Border Guard Station urgently coordinated with the commune authorities to deploy a rescue plan. Overcoming many difficulties due to strong currents, the lake bed being blocked by trash and tree branches, and going through deep forests... finally, the border guards, soldiers and medical staff of Nhon Mai Border Guard Station together with the local authorities successfully reached the area where Ms. Thanh was trapped and promptly carried out rescue operations.

Directly accompanying the officers of Nhon Mai Border Guard Station to the rescue scene, Mr. Le Hong Thai - Chairman of Nhon Mai Commune People's Committee said: "Our viewpoint is that saving people is the top priority. Thanks to the smooth coordination between the border guards and the continuous efforts, this morning we were able to rescue the woman who had been trapped in the forest for nearly a week."

Immediately after arriving, the medical staff of Nhon Mai Border Guard Station examined and examined Ms. Thanh's health. After first aid and psychological stabilization, she was taken to the Border Guard Station working group for further care and recovery.
