Mr. Nguyen Minh Triet: 5 key solutions to promote youth

Secretary of the Central Youth Union Nguyen Minh Triet gave an inspirational speech at the first Congress of the Party Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and Central Mass Organizations, term 2025 - 2030.

At the congress, Mr. Nguyen Minh Triet, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Central Party Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, Secretary of the Central Youth Union, President of the Central Vietnam Student Association, gave a speech on youth vanguard in strategic breakthroughs in science , technology, innovation, and national digital transformation.

A historic decision

Citing data from many studies, Mr. Nguyen Minh Triet said that science, technology and innovation can contribute 40-50% of added value to GDP. Therefore, Resolution No. 57 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation is a historic decision, contributing to shaping the path of fast and sustainable development, meeting the two 100-year goals of the Party and the country.

Quoting General Secretary To Lam's speech, Nguyen Minh Triet emphasized: "The future of the nation lies in the hands of the young generation. Young people must be trained to become pioneers in mastering new technology, with the capacity to research, develop and apply the most advanced achievements into practice."

According to Mr. Nguyen Minh Triet, currently, Vietnam has about 22 million young people, accounting for 21% of the country's population. Today's young generation inherits the qualities of patriotism, creativity, daring to think, daring to do, and at the same time has the advantage of accessing and mastering cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), big data, blockchain, automatic robots, semiconductors, cyber security, aviation - space...

Not only applying in study, research and production, young people are also the pioneering force in bringing technology to the community, especially in remote areas, contributing to narrowing the gap in science and technology application and digital transformation.

Inspire passion and ability to master science and technology

According to Mr. Nguyen Minh Triet, in order for youth to truly become the pioneer force in implementing Resolution 57, the Central Party Committee of the Youth Union proposed 5 key solutions, including raising awareness, arousing passion and the ability to master science, technology, and innovation.

Through the "Creative Youth" movement, forums, competitions, initiatives, and scientific research awards, the Union has supported the realization of more than 150,000 ideas and initiatives of young people. The programs "Popularizing AI" and "Union AI" have helped many young people access and apply artificial intelligence technology.

To date, more than 71% of young people have participated in digital literacy activities, and nearly 80% of young people use electronic payment accounts.

Along with that is   Developing high-quality young human resources. The Union has implemented many scholarship programs, supported lifelong learning, and encouraged research in cutting-edge science and technology. Awards and activities to honor young talents are held regularly.

The Global Forum of Young Vietnamese Intellectuals has connected more than 3,000 young intellectuals, forming international research groups, contributing to orienting technology development for the country.

Simultaneously, Supporting youth startups and developing digital technology businesses. From clubs and youth startup groups at universities and localities to creative startup competitions, the startup ecosystem has expanded, creating a launching pad for tens of thousands of projects.

Over the years, there have been more than 1,400 startup idea competitions attracting more than 2.3 million young people to participate, supporting nearly 37,000 projects, most of which involve high-tech applications.

Pioneering digital transformation

Mr. Nguyen Minh Triet also said that the Youth Union has promoted the vanguard role of youth in national digital transformation. The "Digital Education for All" model has been widely deployed, helping millions of people access digital skills, online public services, and cashless payments.

More than 40,000 volunteer teams with half a million young people have supported 4.2 million people, while coordinating to update party member data and issue and exchange cards for more than 2.1 million people.

In recent times, the Youth Union has promoted youth participation in many major national projects.

In particular , the Youth Union has promoting digital transformation within the Youth Union system itself. With the "Vietnamese Youth" application and the software to manage union members with more than 10.5 million accounts, the Union's digital ecosystem has become an effective tool for managing and connecting union members.

The Union's press agencies are strongly applying digital transformation in content management and operation, developing reputable media channels with large reach on online platforms. Thanks to that, the Union's media campaigns have created great influence and social impact. Online media campaigns have created great social effects, such as "Peace is beautiful" reaching more than 3.6 billion views, "Proud of Vietnam" reaching 10.7 billion views.

Affirming the determination of the young generation, Mr. Nguyen Minh Triet emphasized that under the leadership of the Party, the direction of the Party Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and central mass organizations, Vietnamese youth will continue to be the pioneering force in research, application of science, technology, innovation and digital transformation.
