Notably, during this time, those who participated in the construction of the project had to make a Hong Oath (not to marry) in order to maintain “purity” in order to create the Holy See, a project that Cao Dai followers consider to be the will of Heaven combined with human strength. This is the central place of worship of Cao Dai, called To Dinh, because Tay Ninh is considered the ancestral land of the religion. According to the doctrine, Cao Dai has the following tenets: Quy Nguyen Tam Giao (harmonizing Confucianism, Taoism, Buddhism) and Phuc Nhat Ngu Chi (unifying the five branches of Humanity, Godhood, Sainthood, Immortalism and Buddhism).
