The “Supporting the Exam Season” program was launched by the City Youth Union in early May, with 2 phases: phase 1, the 10th grade entrance exam from June 2 to 4 and phase 2, the high school graduation exam from June 25 to 27. In phase 1, 28 volunteer teams with more than 500 young people were established to support candidates and their families. At each exam site, volunteers were present from early morning to guide candidates, direct traffic, and distribute free drinking water and school supplies to candidates.
Volunteers enthusiastically advised and reminded candidates of exam regulations, organized pick-up and drop-off for candidates who lived far away or were in difficult circumstances, helping them maintain their spirits and confidently enter the exam. Nguyen Thi Ha Anh, a volunteer from Thanh Khe district, shared: “I have experienced the 10th grade entrance exam, so I understand the anxiety and pressure of candidates. Therefore, I want to contribute a small part to support and encourage candidates to confidently enter the exam room. Present at the exam site early in the morning, my team members and I distributed water and guided candidates, hoping that they would feel more secure.”
Secretary of the Lien Chieu District Youth Union Huynh Thanh Binh said that this year, more than 100 union members and young people participated in "Supporting the exam season" at exam sites in the district. Volunteers are ready to support and guide candidates and parents, adding to the spirit during the important exam days. The District Youth Union also mobilized 1,000 bottles of drinking water to encourage and care for candidates and their families.
Most of this year’s volunteers have participated in previous seasons, have experience, good health and a high sense of responsibility. For new volunteers, they will be directly guided in performing their tasks by old volunteers. Before the exam takes place, the District Youth Union also organizes basic skills training to ensure all activities take place safely and effectively.
Meanwhile, in Hai Chau district, there are 6 examination sites. To support candidates and ensure the smooth organization of the examination, the District Youth Union mobilized 20-30 volunteers at each examination site. Under the scorching sun of early summer, the young people tirelessly encouraged and guided each candidate with enthusiasm, responsibility and love. That image left many beautiful impressions in the hearts of parents and students, clearly demonstrating the spirit of volunteerism of Hai Chau district's youth.
Secretary of the City Youth Union Le Cong Hung said that before the high school graduation exam, the City Youth Union implemented many activities to support disadvantaged students, awarded scholarships, activated the "Digital Volunteer - Exam Support" team to receive and synthesize information about candidates in difficult circumstances who need support in the area; introduced a reputable online review channel...
Accordingly, at each examination site, 20-30 volunteers are arranged, carefully selected, who are enthusiastic, have experience in Youth Union - Association activities, understand the area and know some new points of the high school graduation exam; the consultation and support points are decorated and arranged reasonably, ensuring convenience in receiving and guiding candidates and parents.
During the exam, volunteers coordinate to collect information about the situation of candidates in the locality and develop a plan to handle unusual incidents related to weather, accidents, and health; deploy free pick-up and drop-off activities for candidates in special circumstances; coordinate with authorities to promptly prevent the issuance of illegal documents; guide and direct traffic to ensure traffic safety, etc.
“The volunteer teams promote initiative and closely coordinate with units to ensure absolute safety at the exam sites. Not only stopping at logistical support, volunteers also spread the spirit of sharing and kindness in the community. The City Youth Union will continue to replicate the model, learn from each implementation so that the following exam seasons will be more effective, meaningful and spread more widely,” said Mr. Hung.
