Equip yourself with startup knowledge

At the innovation lecturer training program organized by the Department of Science and Technology of Quang Nam province, Mr. Nguyen Tai Tue - Director of the Institute of Entrepreneurship Research, General Secretary of the National Entrepreneurship Advisory Council, brought to the students an in-depth lesson with many practical and inspirational contents. This is an opportunity to redefine the role of the entrepreneur lecturer in the context of changing educational methods and developing the local startup ecosystem.

The training course focuses on equipping theoretical foundations and applied skills in startup training, from creative thinking, problem-posing methods to how to build experiential classrooms. Each content is designed based on the practical operation of startup support programs in many localities in the country, while focusing on flexibility and adaptability to regional characteristics.

In addition, students are also trained in business model analysis, project evaluation, strategic criticism and support network building. The entire program aims to form a generation of lecturers who can apply knowledge to real-world environments instead of just stopping at academic theory.

"Lecturers in the field of startups need to go beyond the role of conveying information to become motivators and companions to learners. In this role, the core is not simply academic qualifications or teaching experience, but rather practical experience, the ability to connect with the community and the acumen in detecting and orienting potential," said Mr. Tue.

Ms. Nguyen Nhu Sinh - representative of the "Handmade Dry Leaves" project in Dai Loc district said that the knowledge received in the class can be applied immediately to adjust their project models. But more valuable, the project owners clearly understand what they need to add, what is lacking and who can accompany them on the next journey.

"In rural areas like Dai Loc, where access to startup knowledge is limited, a team of well-trained lecturers will be an important bridge between young people and the support ecosystem. The presence of people who understand startups will help spread new thinking, helping young people boldly change production models, build OCOP products, and connect with local resources and market demand," said Ms. Sinh.

Startup Foundation

Training a core team of lecturers plays a key role in developing the startup ecosystem in Quang Nam. For many years, the province has clearly identified that building a team of lecturers who understand the locality, have a firm grasp of startup knowledge and are able to inspire will be the foundation to connect the startup community, from young people, farmers, to grassroots leaders.

The innovative teacher training program will be the next step in a series of systematic actions, demonstrating the determination to systematically train human resources and link them to local practices.

Mr. Pham Ngoc Sinh - Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology, Head of the Provincial Steering Committee for Supporting Innovative Startups, said that since 2018, Quang Nam has determined that it is necessary to have a team of lecturers who "know how to ignite and maintain the fire" for the startup movement to spread sustainably. Therefore, the training program is oriented towards practical learning - practice - experimentation, linked to each specific field and locality.

The training courses are designed on the principle of high application, taking practical experience as a guideline. The experts invited to teach have all directly participated in startups, project management or policy consulting. In addition to the time in class, students are also evaluated through practical situations, presenting mock teaching projects, and are connected to participate in consulting for local startup groups after the course.

"This approach not only helps standardize the teaching staff but also contributes to building a sustainable network of experts, proactively managing human resources and reducing pressure on external organizational costs. When the source of lecturers is local, clearly understanding the production characteristics, culture and indigenous resources, guiding OCOP projects, agriculture and community tourism will bring higher efficiency" - Mr. Sinh added.

On the morning of June 10, in Tam Ky City, the Department of Science and Technology of the province organized the opening ceremony of the "Innovation Teaching Lecturer" training course. The class had nearly 50 participants, who were officials and lecturers from universities, startup centers and localities in the province.

The content focuses on equipping knowledge and skills to support startup projects, aiming to build a team of resource lecturers to serve the development of the local startup ecosystem. This activity is part of a series of innovative startup support programs implemented by the Department of Science and Technology from 2018 to present.
