Apple wants to bring Apple Intelligence to the Chinese market
The move is believed to be aimed at overcoming regulatory hurdles and competing with increasingly powerful domestic phone brands. In the US, Apple has partnered with OpenAI to provide advanced AI features. However, many foreign platforms, including OpenAI, are blocked in China. Therefore, Apple is forced to seek domestic partners.
If the deal is signed, Apple Intelligence would likely be backed by ByteDance's Doubao, Tencent's Hynyuan or Baidu's Ernie.
During a recent financial reporting conference, CEO Tim Cook confirmed that Apple is actively working with regulators in both Europe and China to soon launch Apple Intelligence in these markets.
Apple Intelligence is expected to expand to support more languages, including Vietnamese, in April 2025. However, it is still unclear whether Apple will announce collaborations with new AI partners, including Chinese companies.
Cooperating with Chinese technology giants is considered an important strategic step, helping Apple consolidate its position in the world's most populous market and promote the development of Apple Intelligence.
