Arjen Robben (41 years old) was once considered the soul of Groningen Club (Netherlands) before moving to Europe to play professionally and reaching his peak at Chelsea, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.

After retiring in the summer of 2021, he spent time improving his coaching knowledge and honing his skills to prepare for the next turning point.

Robben's choice to return to lead the U14 team was not beyond the fans' expectations, because over the years he has remained closely attached to his old home.

FC Groningen's announcement emphasized: "Robben will focus on developing young talent, applying lessons learned from his international career to enhance the fighting spirit and desire to excel for the U14 team."

In his new role, Robben will be responsible for building the style of play, imparting top-level experience and igniting the passion in each young student.

Previously, in July 2019, Robben left Bayern Munich, announced his retirement, and quickly returned to the field with Groningen. After two seasons with his hometown club, Robben officially ended his playing career and now begins his journey to train the next generation.

Along with Robin van Perse, who is enjoying success as a coach at Feyenoord, Arjen Robben has become proof of the trend of Dutch 8X generation stars turning to coaching after retiring from the pitch.
