Poland boosts investment in Vietnam

On the afternoon of July 20, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department Do Thanh Quang said that Polish investment and trade agencies are very interested in promoting two-way trade and investment cooperation between Ho Chi Minh City in particular and Vietnam in general with this country.

Currently, Poland ranks 64/117 countries investing in Ho Chi Minh City with 10 projects. According to data from the Vietnam Trade Office in Poland, our country's exports to Poland have increased sharply in recent times. In 2022 alone, trade turnover between the two countries reached about 3 billion USD. Of which, Vietnam's exports to Poland reached over 2.5 billion USD and imports over 400 million USD.

Some of Vietnam's main export items to the Polish market include phones, electronics, textiles, footwear, agricultural products, etc. Imported items from Poland include: machinery, equipment, pharmaceuticals, milk and dairy products, textile and garment raw materials, leather, shoes, rubber, food products, furniture, etc.

At the working session between the Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department and the delegation of the Polish Investment and Trade Agency on July 19, the two sides had specific exchanges and discussions on the coordination of organizing the Poland Business Mixer 2024 Trade Forum.

Speaking to the delegation, Mr. Do Thanh Quang said that Vietnam and Poland established diplomatic relations in 1950 and have had traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation for over 70 years. However, trade between the two countries has not yet reached its potential.

“This working session aims to promote customs procedure support for import-export enterprises, promoting trade and investment between Ho Chi Minh City in particular and Vietnam in general with Poland,” Mr. Do Thanh Quang emphasized.

Mr. Piotr Harasimowicz, Head of the Polish Investment and Trade Agency Representative Office in Ho Chi Minh City, said that this meeting and exchange is a more thorough preparation step for the upcoming trade forum; an opportunity for businesses of the two countries to connect, customs agencies of both sides to support, answer questions about policies and customs procedures, contributing to promoting Poland - Vietnam trade.
