Brocade weaving is preserved and promoted by the Thai ethnic people in Ba Thuoc district.
Lung Niem is a poor commune of Ba Thuoc district, the population is mainly Thai ethnic people, life is still difficult but people are always interested in preserving and promoting traditional cultural values. The commune has actively promoted the preservation of traditional writing, language, costumes, and cuisine; encouraged villages to establish clubs and art troupes to organize and stage folk songs and dances to serve people on holidays, New Year, and local political tasks. At the same time, the commune's women's association directed members to participate in learning brocade weaving. Currently, Lung Niem commune has more than 200 women who know how to weave brocade. This is an important premise for Lung Niem commune to develop the brocade weaving profession of the Thai ethnic people.
Along with Lung Niem, communes with many Thai ethnic people living are always interested in restoring traditional festivals that are at risk of being lost; focusing on preserving the language and writing of the Thai ethnic people. From 2018 to now, Ba Thuoc district has coordinated with Hong Duc University to open 10 Thai language classes, nearly 1,000 students have participated and been granted certificates. Thanks to that, the number of people who can read and write Thai in Ba Thuoc district is increasing. Along with that, the traditional cultural values of the Thai ethnic people are preserved and promoted. Currently, many localities have kept up with the development trend, so they have combined the preservation and promotion of the values of the Thai ethnic people with the development of community tourism to create jobs and increase income for people.
