"The Khmer people are an inseparable part of the community of 54 ethnic groups in Vietnam, living together in equality and harmony, and contributing to the cause of national construction and protection throughout the country's history," Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang said on August 31.
On August 31, responding to a reporter's question about Vietnam's reaction to the Khmer Kampuchea Krom organization's fabricated accusations about the situation of Khmer people in Vietnam, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang stated: "We reject the baseless and untrue information about the situation of Khmer people in Vietnam."
Accordingly, the Khmer people are an inseparable part of the community of 54 ethnic groups in Vietnam, living together equally and harmoniously, contributing to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland throughout the country's history.
Ms. Pham Thu Hang affirmed: "All ethnic groups in Vietnam are treated equally. The Vietnamese State guarantees and creates conditions for development in all aspects to continuously improve the material and spiritual life of ethnic minorities, preserve national identity and promote good customs, practices, traditions and culture, contributing to strengthening the great national unity bloc."
