Consumption Link
After a few showers, the drought situation has improved significantly in most lychee tea areas. In the VietGAP lychee growing area of Muoi village, Giap Son commune (Luc Ngan), the small bunches of lychee with lots of fruit are being pruned by the people, keeping only a moderate amount of fruit for easy harvesting as well as care, improving the quality of the fruit. Ms. Ly Thi Ha, a villager, said: “This season, my family has 400 lychee trees. The lychee trees were at risk of dropping fruit after the recent drought, but fortunately, the showers of rain were watered in time to quench the thirst of the trees. In previous years, with good harvests and high prices, my family earned more than 200 million VND and this year I hope the value will be equal or higher.”
Enterprises, cooperatives, lychee growers, retail corporations, shopping malls, and domestic supermarket systems signed a cooperation agreement on product consumption in 2025. |
According to Mr. Vi Van Ngu, Vice Chairman of Giap Son Commune People's Committee, the whole commune has nearly 1,000 hectares of lychee this crop. All of them are grown and cared for according to VietGAP and GlobalGAP processes. Of which, there are 10 growing area codes for export to China, Japan, and the United States in Muoi, Vanh Day, and Chao villages. At this time, product packaging facilities have surveyed lychee gardens and cooperated to purchase about 4,000 tons in this crop.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Tra, a member of the Binh Nguyen Clean Agricultural Products Cooperative (Chu town), informed that the Cooperative currently has 7 members associated in lychee production, expected to supply about 200 tons to the market. In addition to the unit's products, the cooperative also purchases additional products to supply to the markets of the southern provinces and China. Up to now, the cooperative has connected and worked with a number of transportation units to join hands in consuming lychees in the 2025 lychee season. In Phuc Hoa commune (Tan Yen), a number of businesses have signed contracts to purchase lychees early at stable prices in the export growing area.
According to Mr. Tran Trong Nguyen, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Mova Plus Company - an enterprise specializing in exporting agricultural products, in this lychee crop, the Company plans to export about 500 tons of U Hong lychee to Europe, which will gradually increase in the coming years and strive to reach more than 2,000 tons by 2030. To prepare for this year, the Company has prepared conditions and cooperated with households growing U Hong lychee in Phuc Hoa (Tan Yen), Tan Moc (Luc Ngan) for a period of 5 years with stable prices; especially sending staff and households in the area to take care of the lychee according to the GlobalGAP process. In addition to signing contracts to consume products, some enterprises also signed preferential freight rates.
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Chien, Director of Viettel Bac Giang Postal Branch, this season the unit has proactively deployed the transportation and consumption of lychees at 22 post offices and warehouses in the area with the goal of keeping the lychees fresh from the garden to consumers. In particular, the unit will apply a preferential delivery fee policy.
According to the Department of Industry and Trade, many businesses have registered to purchase lychees, including some domestic traders and traders from countries and regions such as China, the United States, Europe, Japan, Korea, Southeast Asia, etc., who have come to learn and prepare for the signing of contracts to consume lychees in the province. At the conference connecting and agreeing on cooperation in consuming lychees in Bac Giang province in 2025 organized by the Department recently, a number of businesses, cooperatives, production, transportation and consumption units of lychees signed a memorandum of understanding and cooperation in consuming products in 2025. These cooperation agreements not only help lychees to be consumed in new markets but also contribute to stabilizing prices, avoiding the situation of "good harvest, low price". When there is a strong connection, lychees can access more potential markets, create stable output and enhance brand value.
It is known that this year, the whole province has 29,700 hectares of lychee. Up to now, the rate of flowering lychee has reached over 90%, the expected fruit set rate is over 80%; the area of lychee produced according to VietGAP standards is 16,000 hectares, Global GAP is 204 hectares, organic is 10 hectares. Early lychee is expected to be harvested from May 20 to June 15, 2025; main crop lychee is harvested from June 10 to July 30, 2025.
Maintain quality, create conditions for product purchase
This year, lychee production faced unfavorable weather conditions, heat, and drought. To promptly overcome difficulties, the Department of Agriculture and Environment has proactively coordinated to advise and direct production; inspected and supervised 240 lychee growing area codes for export with a total area of about 17,400 hectares; guided lychee growers to properly follow the production process of the importing country such as: Using fertilizers, pesticides, and keeping field diaries. At the same time, supervised 39 lychee packaging facilities for export, in which coordinated with the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection (authorized by Japan) to conduct periodic inspections of the packaging facility of Toan Cau Import-Export Joint Stock Company, the inspection results met the requirements; guided Vifoco Import-Export Joint Stock Company to prepare and complete the dossier of the Company's lychee packaging facility for export to the US market to send to the US Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) and is waiting for certification.
Regarding the consumption market, Bac Giang always attaches importance to all markets, both domestic and export. For the domestic market, up to now, lychee has been connected for consumption right from the beginning of the season with the distribution channel system at supermarkets of Central Retail Group (GO!, Big C, Tops Market, Lan Chi Mart...), MM Mega Market Vietnam (MM Mega Market, MM Super Market, Dry food, Food Severce...), Saigon Co.op (Co.opmart), WinCommerce (WinMart Supermarket)...; wholesale markets, traditional markets in the provinces and cities of Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Dong Nai... and with all businesses and traders nationwide.
For the export market, continue to maintain the export of fresh lychee and processed lychee. China is still identified as a traditional market, with many years of cooperation. At the same time, continue to expand and complete the export supply chain to the markets: United States, Europe, Japan, Korea, Australia, Malaysia, Singapore...; develop and expand other export markets: Middle East, Thailand, Canada... In addition, the province always pays attention to directing innovation in consumption methods, combining traditional sales methods and promoting online consumption on domestic and foreign e-commerce platforms; on social networking sites (TikTok, Facebook, Zalo, Youtobe...), on Fanpages...
According to Mr. Duong Ngoc Chien, Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, the Department organized a conference to promote lychee consumption in 2025 with the desire to convey the message: Bac Giang produces and processes lychees with the highest quality, superiority, unique characteristics, ensuring food hygiene and safety. At the same time, it is committed to continuing to create all conditions to support lychee growers, businesses, and domestic and foreign traders in the work of harvesting, processing and consuming lychees; directing the provision of the best logistics services such as: Capital, electricity, materials, warehouses, ensuring security and order, traffic safety and other services; promptly removing difficulties and obstacles arising in the process of purchasing, transporting and consuming throughout the 2025 lychee crop season.
“We expect to welcome more domestic and foreign businesses and traders to Bac Giang to survey, visit, connect to purchase and consume lychee,” said Mr. Chien.
