Bac Lieu responds to World Environment Day 2025

(PLVN) - In Hoa Binh town (Hoa Binh district), the People's Committee of Bac Lieu province organized a rally to respond to World Environment Day (June 5) and Vietnam Sea and Islands Week 2025.

More than 300 union members, youth, cadres, soldiers and local people attended the rally.

Mr. Ngo Vu Thang - Vice Chairman of Bac Lieu Provincial People's Committee emphasized: "Environmental protection work in the province has recently achieved quite good results, meeting the socio -economic development goals of the province. In particular, environmental protection work in new rural construction (green fences are increasingly planted), the rate of household waste collection in the province is increasing. At the same time, waste treatment models are increasingly replicated (models of waste classification at source and composting organic waste).

In addition, production, business and service establishments in the province have become more aware of environmental protection and have basically collected and treated waste in accordance with regulations. The province has paid close attention to reducing plastic waste. In particular, environmental monitoring is carried out regularly to assess and propose appropriate environmental protection measures.

“Departments, sectors, branches, and local People's Committees must strengthen propaganda work on the role and importance of environmental protection, natural resources, forest protection and development, and protection of Vietnam's sea and island sovereignty. In particular, focusing on reducing plastic waste, combating plastic pollution, improving the classification of household waste at source; applying advanced, environmentally friendly technology in recycling and waste treatment, the Vice Chairman of the Bac Lieu Provincial People's Committee requested.

BIDV Bank - Bac Lieu Branch presented a symbolic plaque of 1 billion VND in sponsorship to the Community Fund for Natural Disaster Prevention to implement the forest planting project to overcome the consequences of natural disasters in Bac Lieu.

On this occasion, BIDV Bank - Bac Lieu Branch sponsored 1 billion VND to the Community Fund for Natural Disaster Prevention to implement the project of reforestation to overcome the consequences of natural disasters and 4,400 mangrove trees in the coastal area of ​​Nha Mat Ward (Nha Mat Ward, Bac Lieu City). Along with that, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Bac Lieu presented a symbolic plaque of 50 trash bins (240 liters) to the People's Committee of Hoa Binh District.

After the rally, delegates, union members, youth and people joined forces to clean up the environment, plant trees and afforest coastal alluvial areas of the province and participate in the activity of exchanging plastic waste for necessities at the People's Committee of Hoa Binh town (Hoa Binh district).

In Vietnam, it is estimated that about 1.8 million tons of plastic waste is generated each year, but only about 27% of the waste is recycled, the rest is buried or burned, causing waste of resources and posing many potential environmental risks.

With the theme “Fighting Plastic Pollution”, World Environment Day 2025 calls on the global community to take drastic action to address plastic waste; the urgency of the fight against plastic waste which is causing serious damage to the ecological environment, biodiversity and global public health…
