Beautiful roads are waiting for you to hit the road - Photo: QUAN NAM
The suggested routes depart from Ho Chi Minh City on a 4 or 5 day itinerary. These routes help you explore the cuisine , enjoy the beautiful scenery along the way, swim and rest, so there is no need to go fast, you can just take your time to enjoy the holiday.
1. A Long Xuyen quadrangle
Long Xuyen Quadrangle is the land connected by four cities: Long Xuyen, Chau Doc, Ha Tien, Rach Gia.
This is the great rice granary of the West with fertile land, year-round fruit trees, and also mountains and sea.
I suggest you spend 2 days in Chau Doc and 1 day in Ha Tien.
Why Chau Doc? Victoria Group has invested in two five-star hotels in this small southern city because it is such an interesting place.
Besides the "heart" of this region, the Ba Chua Xu Temple, which attracts millions of pilgrims every year, Chau Doc and its surrounding areas have many other places worth visiting. These include the Cham village with dozens of mosques, Tra Su cajuput forest, the mysterious Bay Nui - That Son area, Tri Ton - the intersection of the two diagonals of the Long Xuyen quadrangle, Cam Mountain, Ba Chuc tomb house...
In addition, Chau Doc is also famous for its dried fish and fish sauce because the rivers in this area have a lot of fish. Visiting Chau Doc market, you will be overwhelmed with rows of dried fish and fish sauce, freely choosing to buy as gifts or to save for later consumption.

"Ha Tien Thap Canh" is the convergence of 10 wild and attractive landscapes typical of the South: Tam Bao Pagoda, Phao Dai Mountain, Mui Nai, Southern beach, Thach Dong, dawn on Dong Ho River, drum sounds at Giang Thanh station, Rach Vuoc fishing village, Binh San Mountain, Da Dung Mountain.
In the evening in Ha Tien, remember to find bun nham to eat, because other places do not sell this dish.
Simple ingredients including fresh vermicelli, shredded papaya, dried shrimp floss, herbs, coconut milk and sweet and sour fish sauce, but the unique blend creates a special flavor for this dish.
On this route, you can also stop by Rach Gia, Long Xuyen, Sa Dec to buy fruit and enjoy specialties such as Long Xuyen broken rice, Kien Giang fish noodles, Sa Dec noodles...
2. Passing through 9 Mekong River mouths
The Mekong River flows into the sea through 9 mouths. Now the Ba Thac River mouth in Soc Trang has been silted up. You will go through 8 mouths by ferry in the provinces of Tien Giang, Ben Tre, Tra Vinh and Soc Trang.
From Ho Chi Minh City, the first destination is Go Cong, you will pass 7 ferries, from small ferries only a few dozen meters long to ferries as wide as the sea where you cannot see the other side.
This route suggests you should stop at 3 places: Go Cong, Tra Vinh and Soc Trang. Go Cong has many mansions, churches, ancient houses - architectural works hundreds of years old that many horror movies and movies with ancient settings often come here to film. Tra Vinh and Soc Trang are lands where many Khmer people live, the temples here have unique architecture that will surprise you.

Regarding food, Go Cong has many noodle and broken rice restaurants, all of which are delicious. You should also try banh gia - a specialty of Go Cong, served with raw vegetables and sweet and sour fish sauce.
In Tra Vinh, go to Ben Co restaurant to enjoy chewy rice noodles with pork offal. Remember to buy Tra Cuon sticky rice cake and wax coconut to complete the "combo".
Pia cake and Chinese sausage are two dishes in Soc Trang that you can buy as gifts.

On the way back to Ho Chi Minh City you can stop by Can Tho - the capital of the Southwest.
3. The road connecting the sea and flowers
This route takes you down to the sea and up the mountain, suitable for families with cars, both going out and sightseeing, without worrying about traffic jams on the highway.
From Ho Chi Minh City, you go down to Ba Ria and from there just follow the sea route. When you get to Phan Rang, go over Ngoan Muc pass to Da Lat, go down to Bao Loc to see the scenery and then go back to Ho Chi Minh City.
You can also go the other way: go up the mountain first and then go down to the beach.
This route has many places for you to stop and rest, depending on your needs and preferences. For example, Ke Ga - the tallest and oldest lighthouse in Vietnam, you can sleep overnight in a tent on the island, remember to bring food and water because there are no services there.

Hoa Thang has a pristine beach and a fishing village full of seafood boats every morning. Vinh Hy Bay is surrounded by mountains on three sides, so the sea is calm all year round, allowing you to dive and see coral, diverse seafood and Lo O stream with crystal clear water.
Ngoan Muc - one of the beautiful passes - takes you from the sunny and windy coastal area of Phan Rang to the cool Lang Biang plateau.
Da Lat, the land of thousands of flowers, and Bao Loc tea region with its fresh, cool air will give you a relaxing vacation.

4. Central Highlands in the season when bees gather honey and butterflies fly all over the sky
The third lunar month in the Central Highlands is considered the most beautiful time of the year. At the peak of the dry season, the coffee flowers wither and the cocoons of butterflies begin to spread their wings and fly.
Butterflies fly everywhere in large numbers, lasting until about May when it rains.
The Tay Nguyen route along Highway 14 is for those who are patient because you cannot go fast due to the speed limit. In return, the scenery on both sides of the road is beautiful with long rows of trees, winding slopes and you will be amazed many times when you see hundreds of butterflies flying around the area.
During this holiday in Buon Ma Thuot, there will be a race on April 28, so if you don't want to encounter crowds, you should go to Gia Lai - Kon Tum for the first 2 days, and then go down to Dak Lak and pass through Dak Nong for the next 3 days. On the way back to Ho Chi Minh City, stop by Binh Phuoc to visit Bu Gia Map National Park.
When coming to the Central Highlands, you must go to the waterfalls, because this region has hundreds of beautiful waterfalls.
