The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) announced the rankings of national teams today, November 28. The Vietnamese team rose 3 places to 116th with 1,161.11 points.
Vietnam's points remained unchanged as coach Kim Sang-sik and his team did not play in the friendly matches in November. However, the team still rose in rank as some teams above them had their points deducted.
The Vietnam team did not compete but still rose in rank.
Specifically, Guinea-Bissau and Zimbabwe both dropped 4 places. Azerbaijan - ranked 1 place above Vietnam in the October rankings - lost points due to only 1 loss and 1 draw (-3.1 points). The European team still rose in the rankings but only 1 place, while Vietnam rose 3 places.
The top five spots in the FIFA rankings remain unchanged. Argentina, France, Spain, England and Brazil retain their top positions. Belgium drops two places, allowing Portugal and the Netherlands to overtake them. Germany returns to the top 10 for the first time since 2018.
In Asia, Japan is still at the top (15th in the world), followed by Iran (18th) and South Korea (23rd). The highest ranked Southeast Asian team is Thailand (97th), down 1 place from last month.
The victory over Saudi Arabia helped the Indonesian team gain 16.24 points. The archipelago team rose to 125th place in the world, only 9 places behind the Vietnamese team.
In November, the Vietnamese team will not participate in the FIFA international matches. Instead, coach Kim Sang-sik and his team will train in Korea to prepare for the AFF Cup (ASEAN Cup) 2024. The Vietnamese team will play a practice match with Daegu Club tomorrow morning (November 28).
