The paths of military-civilian solidarity

Lang Son has a 231.74km long border, with 474 border markers on many complex terrains. “Previously, the patrol road followed the cliffs and slippery hill roads. Some markers on the top of the mountain were steep, the way up was difficult, in some places you had to crawl, cling to the forest trees, the back of the person touching the front of the person's feet,” said Colonel Trinh Huu Tang, former Political Commissar of the Border Guard of Lang Son province.

Faced with this reality, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Lang Son province coordinated with the Provincial Border Guard to issue an open letter to launch a special campaign to support the construction of border marker inspection roads to protect Lang Son province's borders. Through support sources, up to now, the whole province has built 321/459 border marker inspection roads with a total length of more than 72km, with 39,400 working days, reaching a total value of more than 48.9 billion VND.

The affection and responsibility of the people, the armed forces, and all levels and sectors towards the sacred border is enormous.

Lieutenant General Nguyen Anh Tuan, Political Commissar of the Border Guard

“Although our commune is inland, I was very excited when we were mobilized to build the road to check the landmarks. Not only did many households support working days, but they also donated money, necessities, etc. to serve the forces directly building the projects,” said Mr. Hoang Van Tho, Trang Dinh commune, Lang Son province. Not only did they contribute working days or materials, many families donated land to create a site to build the roads to check the landmarks, creating a beautiful symbol of military-civilian solidarity.

Lieutenant General Nguyen Anh Tuan, Political Commissar of the Border Guard, said: “The affection and responsibility of the people, the armed forces, and all levels and sectors towards the sacred border is very great. For the border cause, these roads are a testament to the solidarity between the army and the people, not only creating favorable conditions for the functional forces to organize border protection activities but also creating conditions for people to travel, cultivate, produce, develop the economy , and stabilize life in the border areas.”

Bridge connecting social security

In March 2025, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Lang Son province built a mailbox model "Listening to people's opinions, participating in Party and government building". From the first location (old Hoang Van Thu ward), up to now, the whole province has a total of 55 suggestion boxes located at the headquarters of 26 communes, wards and cultural houses of villages and residential blocks. Each suggestion box has a QR code attached for people to reflect their opinions and make suggestions online.

Mr. Hua Viet Lam, Head of the Front Work Committee of Block 26, Ky Lua Ward, shared: “Placing mailboxes at the cultural house with QR codes is very convenient for people in the current digital age. Through this, people have an additional information channel to reflect their thoughts and wishes, and send them to all levels for consideration and resolution.”

On September 5, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Lang Son province officially launched the model "Digital Front of Lang Son" on the Zalo platform with Zalo OA and Zalo Mini App. Through the QR code scanning method, the application "Digital Front of Lang Son" is designed to be intuitive, easy to use, and integrates many outstanding functions. This is considered a direct bridge between the Front and the people through propaganda and two-way interaction, and is also a tool to contribute to the modernization of mass mobilization, supervision, social criticism and community connection.

Along with that, the Provincial Fatherland Front deployed software to manage the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses in digital space. The application helps the support process take place accurately, transparently, conveniently updating progress, grasping difficulties and obstacles to have timely solutions. Currently, the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses continues to be deployed by Lang Son province, with 7,041/6,508 houses completed and put into use.

Receiving the new house happily, Ms. Hoang Thi Nit, Lung Phuc village, Tri Le commune shared: "My family always has to struggle to treat two children who both have congenital hemolytic anemia. Therefore, the house has deteriorated and we cannot afford to rebuild it. I am very happy to receive support to rebuild the house." Up to now, in Lang Son province, more than 7,000 houses have been handed over on schedule, ensuring the "3 hard" standards (hard frame, hard wall, hard roof), suitable for living habits and geological and topographical conditions, helping to minimize the risk of natural disasters.

In early October, when storm No. 11 (Matmo) caused heavy losses to Lang Son province, officials of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province also quickly arrived at the flood epicenter, grasped the reality, became a bridge connecting, calling, and allocating resources to the right place, the right people, promptly and effectively helping people in the flood epicenter overcome difficulties so that "no one is left behind".

Mr. Cao Huy Hai, Chairman of the Fatherland Front Committee of Thien Tan commune, said: In addition to necessities, the Provincial Fatherland Front supports funds according to the norms for each subject: Policy families, poor and near-poor households affected by storms with 1.5 million VND/household; people injured by storms with 5 million VND/case; initially, support up to 15 kg of rice/person/month for those who are hungry due to natural disasters.

Currently, the relief work is being continued by the Fatherland Front system in the province through activities of mobilizing, receiving and allocating support resources, helping people affected by natural disasters. Comrade Nguyen Hoang Tung, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Lang Son province, said: The effectively implemented activities are the foundation for the Fatherland Front of the province to continue to affirm and enhance its position and role in the political system and social life.
