On the evening of June 21, at the Vietnam - Soviet Union Friendship Cultural Palace (Hanoi), the Vietnam Journalists Association held a ceremony to celebrate the 98th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day and award the 17th National Press Awards - 2022.
Attending the ceremony were President Vo Van Thuong; Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda Department Nguyen Trong Nghia; Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang; Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Quang Phuong; leaders of departments, ministries, leaders of press agencies and award-winning authors.

This year, the number of works submitted for the competition was 1,894, of which 1,774 works qualified for the preliminary round. Of the 157 works entered into the final round, the Council discussed, evaluated and voted to select: 8 A Prizes, 24 B Prizes, 46 C Prizes, 45 Encouragement Prizes to award to the most outstanding works.
The Lao Dong Newspaper has 2 award-winning works, including: The work "Breakthrough for economic recovery" by authors: Thai Phuong, Phuong Nhung, Thanh Nhan, Minh Chien, Phan Anh won the C prize; the work "The world of private taxis" at Tan Son Nhat airport" by the group of authors Y Linh, Thu Hong, Thai Phuong, Sy Hung, Le Vinh, Minh Anh, Truong Hoang won the consolation prize.
Speaking at the event, journalist Le Quoc Minh, member of the Party Central Committee, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, emphasized that over the past 98 years, under the leadership of the Party, the care and guidance of President Ho Chi Minh and the trust and support of the people, the Vietnamese revolutionary press has always been closely associated with and accompanied the national revolutionary cause.

In the historical periods of the country since the Party was founded, the revolutionary press has always been the leading force, the sharp spiritual weapon of the Party and State on the ideological and cultural front, the forum of the people, and has made great contributions to the revolutionary cause.
Generations of revolutionary journalists deserve to be the vanguard soldiers on the ideological and cultural front, as President Ho Chi Minh taught journalists: "Journalists are also revolutionary soldiers. Pens and paper are their sharp weapons."

The President of the Vietnam Journalists Association stated that the Party, State and people highly appreciate the role, achievements and great contributions of the press over the past century. The achievements of the Vietnamese revolutionary press today were built with the intelligence, efforts and even blood of many generations of journalists over the past century.
"On the occasion of the 98th anniversary of Vietnam's revolutionary press, I would like to bow my head in gratitude and remembrance of President Ho Chi Minh, our predecessors and martyr journalists who heroically sacrificed for the Fatherland" - journalist Le Quoc Minh expressed.

Generations of journalists have worked, contributed, and devoted themselves to noble political missions, building a press that is truly the voice of the Party and State, a forum and a trusted bridge between the people and the Party and State.

Believing that in the coming time, the tasks set for the press will become increasingly heavy and the responsibilities will become increasingly great, President Vo Van Thuong requested that journalists and press agencies must make more efforts to be worthy of the people's trust and meet the requirements of professional, humane and modern journalism and media.
President Nguyen Van Thuong requested press agencies and journalists to be highly aware of their responsibility to the Party, the State, the people, and readers for the mission they undertake. The duty of the press is to serve the people and the revolution as President Ho Chi Minh once advised.
