The Department of Agriculture and Environment periodically sends staff to inspect and survey river basins and waste sources (excluding holidays), resolutely and strictly handle and suspend facilities causing environmental pollution according to regulations.
At the same time, the Department, together with related sectors, continues to closely monitor and supervise projects and facilities with high risks of causing environmental pollution. Requires owners of waste sources with designed wastewater treatment facilities of 500 m3 /day and night or more to install automatic wastewater monitoring stations, continuously transmitting data to the Department for monitoring and management.
At the same time, determine the locations where pollution often occurs in the river basin to have a plan to use water from the irrigation system to supplement and wash away water sources in polluted areas when necessary.
In addition, the Provincial People's Committee also assigned the Department of Construction to study and propose a plan to dredge mud from the bottom of the Vam Co Dong River according to regulations; requesting the construction unit to salvage water hyacinth from the Vam Co Dong River to strengthen the collection and salvage of water hyacinth, ensure the circulation of vehicles, collect water hyacinth after chopping and cutting to the collection location, and not discharge it into the river to cause re-infection.
The Department of Finance allocates funds, speeds up investment in construction systems, and ensures urban wastewater treatment meets prescribed standards before discharge.
The provincial police have strengthened their grasp of the situation, organized investigations, verified and strictly handled acts of using chemicals and explosives in aquatic exploitation as well as businesses discharging substandard wastewater into the environment in accordance with legal regulations.
Districts, towns and cities must speed up the investment in construction of domestic wastewater treatment facilities in urban areas that have been approved for investment. In addition, localities need to strengthen propaganda, mobilize and encourage people to provide information, report promptly and not assist or cover up for those who exploit aquatic resources destructively.
