Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Trong Phuc, former Director of the Institute of Party History, emphasized that the Communist Party of Vietnam is the leading force of the State and society, the only ruling force, therefore the goal of building socialism is identified as a central and continuous task and must be resolutely carried out.
Since its inception, our Party has clearly identified the path of national development as linking national independence with socialism - which is both an objective law of history and the correct choice, consistent with the reality of the Vietnamese revolution.
Firmly defend and protect the Party's ideological foundation in the new period
Socialism is a noble goal that our Party and people steadfastly pursue. This is not only an ideal but also an inevitable path to ensure national independence associated with the happiness and prosperity of the people.
After nearly 40 years of renovation, under the leadership of the Party, Vietnam has achieved great and comprehensive achievements, affirming the correctness and creativity of the path to socialism that the Party, Uncle Ho and our people have chosen.

However, in the context of the complex and volatile world situation, along with the strong development of information technology and social networks, hostile and reactionary forces continue to sabotage the Party's ideological foundation, distort and deny the leadership role of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
They spread many false and reactionary arguments, aiming to weaken the trust of cadres, party members and people in the socialist path.
Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Trong Phuc said: "Protecting the Party's ideological foundation means protecting the path to socialism, protecting the socialist regime led by the Communist Party of Vietnam. This task is not only of theoretical significance, but also a political responsibility, a practical requirement for the survival of our people's revolutionary cause."

According to Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Trong Phuc, protecting the Party's ideological foundation means first of all protecting, developing and creatively applying Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh thought to Vietnam's reality.
This is a steadfast theoretical foundation, guiding the entire Vietnamese revolutionary cause. At the same time, in the current period, it is necessary to protect and develop Vietnam's innovation theory, the theory of socialism and the path to socialism in Vietnam, the theoretical achievements that have been summarized from more than four decades of innovation.

The 13th Central Conference of the 13th tenure clearly affirmed the theory of innovation, summarized over the past 40 years, as an important basis for preparation for the 14th National Party Congress. Along with that, the theory of socialism and the path to socialism in Vietnam has been systematized, becoming an important component of the Party's ideological foundation.
Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Trong Phuc affirmed that protecting the Party's ideological foundation is not only about preserving academic values but also about protecting the realistic values, revolutionary and scientific nature of those ideas.

When these values are firmly maintained, they will strengthen beliefs, guide actions and create a solid foundation for the entire Party and people to continue striving for the goal of a rich people, strong country, democracy, fairness and civilization; resolutely fight and refute erroneous and hostile viewpoints.
"A key content in protecting the Party's ideological foundation is to resolutely reject erroneous and reactionary arguments," Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Trong Phuc emphasized.
The rule of law state serves the people's interests, under the comprehensive leadership of the Party.
He said that hostile arguments often focus on the following main points: First, they deny the leadership role of the Communist Party of Vietnam, demanding political pluralism and multi-party opposition.
This is a reactionary and incorrect argument, going against historical reality. The history of the Vietnamese revolution has proven that only the Communist Party of Vietnam - the vanguard of the working class and peasantry, the loyal representative of the national interest, has enough courage, intelligence and prestige to lead the country from one victory to another.
Second , they call for abandoning the path to socialism, orienting Vietnam towards Western bourgeois models. In fact, for nearly 100 years, the path of socialism in Vietnam has always been closely linked to national independence and has been steadfastly chosen by the Party since its inception.
The achievements of innovation in economics, politics, culture and foreign affairs have proven the correctness and creativity of that path.
Third , hostile forces seek to interfere and influence Vietnam's foreign policy, forcing our country to "lean" to one side.
However, our Party's foreign policy is independence, self-reliance, multilateralization, diversification, being friends with all countries, and being a responsible member of the international community. Reality shows that Vietnam is highly appreciated and respected by countries, including those that were rivals in the past.
Fourth , they demand to "depoliticize" the armed forces, separating the army and police from the Party's leadership, and this is an extremely dangerous plot.
The Vietnam People's Army and the Vietnam People's Public Security are forces founded, led and trained by the Party; absolutely loyal to the Fatherland, the people and the Party. Maintaining the Party's leadership over the armed forces is an immutable principle, ensuring the socialist regime is firmly protected.
Fifth , there are arguments demanding the construction of a state according to the bourgeois model, separate from the leadership of the Party, but Vietnam is determined to build a socialist rule-of-law state of the people, by the people, for the people, in accordance with Ho Chi Minh's ideology and the country's development practices.
This is a rule of law state serving the people's interests, under the comprehensive leadership of the Party, consolidating trust and promoting the strength of the whole society.

Cadres and party members are steadfast soldiers on the ideological front.
Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Trong Phuc assessed that to effectively protect the Party's ideological foundation, it is necessary to simultaneously consolidate theory, increase propaganda, political and ideological education, and fight against rebuttals based on science, practice, and law.
In particular, political theory education needs to be innovated in content and form, ensuring that it is both profound and vivid, suitable for each target group, especially the young generation, and at the same time, it is necessary to proactively fight in cyberspace - where false arguments spread rapidly.
"Refutation must be conducted in an organized and scientifically reasoned manner, with the spirit of "taking the right to overcome the wrong; taking practice to reject distortions." Protecting the Party's ideological foundation is not only the task of the theoretical agency, but also the common responsibility of the entire Party, the entire people, and the entire army.
"Each cadre and party member must be a steadfast soldier on the ideological front, contributing to consolidating trust and strengthening the great national unity bloc," Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Trong Phuc emphasized.
He affirmed that protecting the Party's ideological foundation in the new period means protecting the path to socialism, protecting the regime, protecting our Party and State. This is a strategic, long-term and urgent task, requiring steadfastness in ideology, creativity in action and solidarity throughout society.
When the ideological foundation is maintained, the people's confidence is consolidated, and national strength is multiplied, that is the decisive condition for Vietnam to continue to move forward firmly on the path of national independence and socialism.
