Arrested two subjects stealing lightning protection wires at broadcasting stations

These are the two subjects who caused a series of thefts of copper-core lightning protection wires at transmission stations of network operators in Tan Chau, Duong Minh Chau districts and Tay Ninh city, causing hundreds of millions of dong in damage.

Previously, on May 7, people and police of Thanh Bac commune, Tan Bien district discovered and arrested Tien and Long while they were cutting copper core cables at a local broadcasting station. Police seized evidence including pliers, tape, wrenches; 2 mobile phones; 1 piece of copper weighing 1.9 kg, 1 roll of copper core wire weighing 23.8 kg; 6 million VND; 1 car with license plate 34D-002.67.

Immediately afterwards, the two subjects and the evidence were handed over to Tan Chau District Police for investigation.

Through initial investigation, Tan Chau police determined that Dao Ngoc Long invited Nguyen Van Tien to go to Tay Ninh in Tien's car with license plate 34D-002.67. On the way, Long observed that there were many antenna towers at the broadcasting stations of the network operators without anyone watching them, so he had the idea of ​​cutting and stealing copper-core lightning protection cables.

The two went to the grocery store to buy a pair of wire cutters, a pair of pruning shears, and two rolls of black tape to bring back to the motel to store. During the day, Tien drove Long on the roads so Long could observe, find broadcasting stations, determine their locations, and then wait until night when there were no people around, then the two returned.

At the broadcasting stations, Long went in and used the prepared tools to steal the lightning protection cables, while Tien waited outside in the car and kept watch. After stealing, both returned to the motel, and the next morning, they took the stolen cables to sell as scrap for 3-5 million VND/time.

Using the above tricks, the two committed 7 thefts of lightning cables from antenna towers of telephone networks in Tan Chau district, Duong Minh Chau district and Tay Ninh city.
