- In early May, when the weather started to get hot, swimming pools in Lang Son province quickly entered the "attracting" season. The need to cool off, exercise and learn to swim increased sharply, leading to a sudden increase in the number of visitors to the swimming pool. This attraction not only comes from the entertainment needs of the people but also shows the careful preparation of facilities, services and preferential policies, aiming to improve health, spread the movement of learning to swim and skills to prevent drowning in the community.
Exciting atmosphere at some swimming pools in the area
Since the beginning of summer, the atmosphere at many swimming pools in the province has become bustling. Ms. Hoang Anh Nguyet, Na Sam town, Van Lang district shared: My child is in 6th grade this year. Last summer, I took my child to learn to swim at Thien Duong swimming pool (zone 8), Na Sam town. After the course, my child knew how to swim and was much more confident when in contact with water. Therefore, this year, as soon as the weather warmed up, I took my child to the swimming pool again to practice his skills and improve his health.
The province has nearly 40 swimming pools, including 2 standard 50-meter pools, 19 25-meter pools, and the rest are small-scale pools, assembled in residential areas, schools, and businesses. This is a positive development in water sports infrastructure, creating conditions for people of all ages to access swimming activities in a systematic and safe manner.
To prepare for a large number of visitors during peak season, many swimming pools have proactively invested, upgraded facilities and implemented incentive programs.
Ms. Le Phuong Hoan, owner of Dong Doi swimming pool (Lang Son city) said: Since March, we have been cleaning, changing the water in the entire system, maintaining the filter, and checking the chlorine concentration to ensure the water quality meets standards. This year in particular, we have installed a roofing system to limit the sun and rain from affecting swimming activities. We also launched a monthly ticket price promotion at the end of April to create conditions for many people to access swimming pools that meet technical standards according to national standards.
Most swimming pools in the province have officially opened since the end of April this year to serve people during the April 30 - May 1 holiday. Records at many swimming pools in the province show that the number of visitors has increased dramatically since the beginning of May. At Dong Doi swimming pool, on average, there are over 200 people coming to swim every day, mainly students, teenagers and children.
Notably, most children go to swimming pools to take formal swimming lessons due to the increasing awareness of the importance of practicing drowning prevention skills and protecting children's health during the summer.
The investment interest of units and individuals operating swimming pools not only contributes to improving service quality but also creates conditions for swimming to spread widely in the community, especially in rural areas.
Not only in urban areas, some assembled swimming pools located at schools in districts such as Van Quan, Bac Son, Huu Lung... are also urgently recruiting students, ready for the peak swimming season. However, due to the impact of prolonged drought, some areas (such as Loc Binh district) currently do not have enough water to operate the pools, leading to some swimming pools currently not being able to operate.
Mr. Luong Trong Hao, Deputy Head of Sports Management Department, Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the province said: Swimming is not only a sport that brings comprehensive health but also an essential life skill, especially for children. Therefore, we always encourage units and individuals to invest in developing swimming pools, organizing swimming classes and swimming popularization programs. In the coming time, we will continue to review and guide units to properly implement safety standards and develop a plan to develop a widespread swimming movement in the province.
Summer has just begun, but the attraction of swimming pools has partly reflected the growing need of people to improve their health, practice life skills and enjoy safe and healthy entertainment spaces. With the active participation of professional agencies and the initiative and investment of pool operators, the movement of learning to swim and preventing drowning in the province has been and continues to spread strongly. Thereby, contributing to creating a sustainable foundation for the goal of developing community sports and taking care of the health of the whole population in the coming time.
