9-year-old boy in Hanoi got lost because he wanted to cycle to Ho Chi Minh City to watch the parade

On April 26, Major Nguyen Quang Chinh, Mai Dich Ward Police ( Hanoi City Police) said that the unit had just helped a lost 3rd grader return to his family.

At around 8:15 p.m. on April 25, two residents brought a boy to the Mai Dich Ward Police Station to report that the boy was lost. They could not remember his home address, only remembered his father's name was Nguyen Duc A. and his mother's name was Nguyen Thi H., and that the family also had a 6-year-old sister.

Receiving information from the people, Major Chinh quickly asked the child and he said his name was NAP (9 years old). P. said that because he had seen pictures of the parade in Ho Chi Minh City in the past few days, after school, P. took his bike without permission, hid it from his parents and made the journey to Ho Chi Minh City.

“The boy refused to tell me his home address and asked me to stay the night and look after his bicycle so he could continue his journey the next morning,” Major Chinh recounted.

After talking with the child, the Mai Dich Ward Police officer determined that the child lived in Phuc Tho District (Hanoi City).

Immediately afterwards, Mai Dich Ward Police contacted Vong Xuyen Commune Police and Vong Xuyen B Primary School (Phuc Tho District) to verify the information. At the same time, the ward police also posted on information channels to find a way to contact P's parents.

At around 10 p.m. the same day, P.'s father received information from Mai Dich Ward Police, so he went to the police station and picked up his son.

P.'s father said that he did not know that his son intended to cycle to Ho Chi Minh City to watch the parade, so the whole family was very worried when he did not return home.
