Lao Cai General Hospital No. 1 celebrates its 70th anniversary (1955–2025)

On the morning of October 25, at the Provincial Conference Center, Lao Cai General Hospital No. 1 solemnly held a ceremony to celebrate its 70th anniversary (1955-2025). Attending the ceremony were comrade Le Duc Luan - Deputy Minister of Health; representatives of leaders of a number of central and provincial hospitals that cooperate with the Hospital. On the Lao Cai side, there were comrade Duong Duc Huy - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee; comrade Vu Thi Hien Hanh - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; comrade Hoang Quoc Huong - Director of the Department of Health; leaders of specialized departments, medical units at the provincial and grassroots levels, and generations of cadres, doctors, and staff of the hospital through the years.

Lao Cai Provincial General Hospital No. 1 (formerly Yen Bai Provincial General Hospital) was established in 1955 in Nam Cuong area, Yen Bai town. Over the past 70 years of construction and development, generations of staff and doctors of the Hospital have always upheld the spirit of responsibility, solidarity, and overcoming difficulties, gradually affirming its position as the province's final medical facility. Currently, the hospital has performed 83.4% of the Ministry of Health's technical list, including 1,280 special techniques; the referral rate has decreased to less than 2%.

The hospital is the leading unit in the Northern mountainous provinces, achieving 4.42/5 quality points according to the Ministry of Health 's criteria, is the 35th hospital in the country to publish electronic medical records, ranked 14th in storing test information instead of printing paper and ranked 24th in the country in using Pacs without printing film. The hospital has actively implemented international cooperation with JICA, Yokosuka Kyosai Hospital (Japan), Busan Veterans Hospital (Korea) and is promoting cooperation with hospitals in the Federal Republic of Germany and the Republic of France. With great contributions to the cause of people's health care, the hospital has been awarded many noble titles by the State and all levels and sectors, including the Third Class Labor Medal (2024); Emulation Flag of the Prime Minister (2017, 2019, 2022, 2024) and many years of being awarded Emulation Flags and Certificates of Merit from the Prime Minister, Ministry of Health and Provincial People's Committee.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Health Le Duc Luan and Vice Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee Vu Thi Hien Hanh acknowledged and commended the hospital's outstanding achievements over the past 70 years, and requested the unit to continue promoting its role as the province's core hospital, developing in a specialized, modern, internationally integrated direction, increasingly meeting the people's health care needs. The anniversary is an opportunity to pay tribute to previous generations of medical staff, review the glorious tradition and affirm the determination of the Lao Cai Provincial General Hospital (facility 1) to continue to innovate, improve the quality of medical examination and treatment, serving the people according to the motto "Professional - Modern - Humanistic - For the people's health", aiming to become a strong Grade I hospital, a high-quality medical center of the Northern midland and mountainous region.

Also on the morning of October 25, Lao Cai General Hospital No. 1 organized a scientific workshop with the theme "Application of high technology in diagnosis and treatment". The workshop had the participation of leading experts from the central and local levels, sharing many in-depth contents such as: MRI - Current and future clinical applications; epilepsy surgery at Viet Duc Friendship Hospital; electronic heart implant devices "Expanding horizons in arrhythmia management"; stroke treatment... The presentations brought delegates a lot of useful knowledge, promoted academic exchange, opened up opportunities for research cooperation, contributed to improving professional skills for medical staff, doctors and improving the effectiveness of diagnosis and treatment in the locality./.
