A cold front is intensifying in Northern Vietnam, with temperatures in mountainous areas dropping below 16 degrees Celsius in some places.

According to the National Center for Meteorological and Hydrological Forecasting, as of today (October 26th), a cold front has affected some areas in the northern mountainous region.

The forecast for the Hanoi area is cold tonight and tomorrow morning.

Forecasts indicate that on the night of October 26th and during the day of October 27th, the cold air mass will have a weak impact on other areas in the northeastern and northern central regions, and then affect some areas in the western northern region and central central region.

Northeast winds inland will be strong at level 2-3, and level 3-4 in coastal areas. In the Northern and North Central regions, it will be cold at night and in the morning, with freezing temperatures in mountainous areas. The lowest temperatures will generally be 19-22°C, with some mountainous areas experiencing temperatures below 16°C.

In the Hanoi area, it will be cold at night and in the morning, with the lowest temperature ranging from 19 to 22°C.

At sea, in the Gulf of Tonkin, there are strong northeasterly winds of force 6, gusting to force 7-8, rough seas, and waves 1.5-3 meters high.

In the northern part of the South China Sea (including the northern part of the Hoang Sa Special Administrative Region), strong northeasterly winds of force 6, sometimes force 7, gusting to force 8-9, will cause rough seas with waves 3-5 meters high.

The sea area from southern Quang Tri to Quang Ngai will experience strong northeasterly winds of force 5, sometimes force 6, gusting to force 7-8, with waves 2-4 meters high; combined with high tides, the sea will be rough.

Detailed temperature forecast:

On the night of October 26th and during the day of October 27th: Northern Vietnam and the northern part of Central Vietnam will experience minimum temperatures of 19-22°C, with some mountainous areas experiencing temperatures below 16°C; average temperatures will be 23-25°C, with some mountainous areas experiencing temperatures below 22°C.

On the night of October 27th and during the day of October 28th: ​​Northern Vietnam and northern Central Vietnam will experience minimum temperatures of 19-22°C, with some mountainous areas below 17°C; average temperatures will be 23-25°C, with some mountainous areas below 22°C.

A warning has been issued regarding the strengthening cold front combined with disturbances in the upper easterly wind zone. Moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected in the area from Ha Tinh to Da Nang City and the eastern provinces from Quang Ngai to Dak Lak, with very heavy rain in some localized areas.

Thunderstorms accompanied by tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong gusts of wind can cause damage to agriculture, uproot trees, and damage to houses, transportation infrastructure, and other facilities. Heavy rains can cause flooding in low-lying areas; flash floods in small rivers and streams; and landslides on slopes.

Strong winds and high waves at sea are affecting shipping operations and fishing.

The cold weather at night and in the morning can affect people's health.
