Medical history records show that, before being admitted to the hospital, the male patient born in 1976 had persistent pain in the right groin, which increased when standing or walking, making daily activities difficult. Despite using painkillers for a long time, the condition did not improve. Notably, the patient had a history of left femoral head necrosis and had undergone partial hip replacement surgery a few years ago.
After examination, X-ray and necessary tests, doctors determined that the patient had right femoral head necrosis and indicated partial hip replacement surgery to help the patient relieve pain, restore motor function and improve quality of life.

According to Orthopedic Trauma specialists, partial hip replacement surgery is the optimal treatment for cases of femoral neck fracture, degenerative or severe hip necrosis when medical treatment is no longer effective. This is a complex technique, requiring a team of experienced surgeons and a modern equipment system.
Femoral head necrosis is a disease that progresses silently, in the early stages there are often no obvious symptoms. As the disease worsens, pain in the groin, spreading to the thigh or knee, limited mobility, limping, and even the inability to get on a motorbike are common symptoms. Many cases are misdiagnosed as knee osteoarthritis due to the spreading pain, leading to delayed treatment.
Hip replacement surgery helps patients relieve pain, restore mobility, return to normal activities and improve quality of life. After 1 week of surgery, patients can walk with crutches and begin physical therapy to restore muscle strength and range of motion as the body recovers.
After receiving the technology transfer from the Ho Chi Minh City Trauma and Orthopedics Hospital in 2023, the team of doctors at Le Van Viet Hospital can now perform hip replacement surgery, knee replacement surgery and other complex orthopedic trauma surgeries, contributing to reducing the burden on upper-level hospitals and improving the quality of service for local people.
