On the morning of April 15, the Steering Committee of An Giang province on summarizing the implementation of Resolution 18-NQ/TW, dated October 25, 2017 of the Central Executive Committee (12th tenure) on a number of issues to continue innovating and streamlining the organization of the political system to be streamlined, effective and efficient (referred to as the Provincial Steering Committee), held a Steering Committee meeting to assess the progress of implementation in the past time, set out key tasks and give opinions on a number of contents within its authority for implementation in the coming time.

At the meeting, the draft Project on rearranging commune-level administrative units of An Giang province was approved; Project on establishing Party organizations in commune-level administrative units; Project on establishing Vietnam Fatherland Front organizations and socio- political organizations, associations assigned by the Party and State in grassroots administrative units (new); draft plan of the Provincial Party Standing Committee on continuing to rearrange administrative units, organize the political system apparatus of An Giang province to be streamlined, operate effectively and efficiently.

In recent times, the work of arranging administrative units and organizing the provincial political system has been seriously and resolutely implemented in accordance with the direction and orientation of the Central Steering Committee, the Politburo , the Secretariat, and the guidance of the Government Party Committee on arranging administrative units and organizing a streamlined local political system, ensuring effectiveness and efficiency, enhancing the leadership and governing role of the Party, meeting the requirements of the new period.

Concluding the meeting, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the An Giang Provincial Party Committee Le Hong Quang, Head of the Provincial Steering Committee, emphasized that this is a very important conference to implement the major policies of the Party and State, a revolution, contributing to realizing the country's long-term development vision, expanding development space; building grassroots administrative units, organizing the political system apparatus close to the people, serving the people better.

“All levels, sectors and localities must identify this as an extremely important task and strictly implement the Central and provincial directives on the arrangement of administrative units and the organization of the political system. The implementation process must ensure strictness, democracy, objectivity, transparency, fairness, impartiality, and compliance with the principles and regulations of the Party and the State. At the same time, grasp the situation of public opinion, orient thoughts, strengthen information and propaganda to create unity in awareness, action, political determination in Party committees, Party organizations, the political system and consensus in society to successfully implement the policy of innovation, organization and apparatus arrangement of the political system, meeting the requirements of the task” - Secretary of the An Giang Provincial Party Committee Le Hong Quang noted.

The Provincial Party Secretary requested members of the Steering Committee, departments, branches and localities to absorb the comments, continue to review, consider, synthesize and complete the plan to submit to the Provincial Party Standing Committee and the Provincial Party Executive Committee for comments; closely following the Central's orientation and in accordance with the province's reality, ensuring that the total number of commune and ward administrative units after the rearrangement is reduced by 60 - 70% compared to the total number of commune-level administrative units before the rearrangement.
