License plate 51D-999.99 has been auctioned 3 times, of which the first took place on April 19, 2024 with a winning price of 6.21 billion VND, the second time re-appeared on July 22, 2024 with a winning price of 3.58 billion VND. By the third time, on November 12, 2024, license plate 51D-999.99 was successfully bid for more than 4.13 billion VND.

According to Feng Shui, the number 9 is the rarest and luckiest type of license plate, which in the past could only be obtained by randomly picking up a license plate. In Sino-Vietnamese, the number 9 is read as "cuu", which is homophonous with "truong cuu", symbolizing stability, power and longevity. In ancient China, the number 9 was also associated with kings (with 9 dragons, 9 steps, 9 bronze peaks...), so it was considered the "supreme" number.

In January 2025, Huan "Hoa Hong" - a famous car enthusiast who often shows off his hobby of beautiful license plates, shared a photo taken next to a VinFast VF3 with license plate 51D-999.99, making netizens "crazy". The price to buy this license plate is 17.2 times higher than the price of the VinFast VF3 with a rented battery version (240 million VND) and 12.9 times the price of the version with a battery (322 million VND).

With a VIP license plate, the VF3, believed to belong to Huan “Hoa Hong”, became the most expensive mini electric car in Vietnam with a total rolling value of up to 4.47-4.45 billion VND, equivalent to Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 or BMW X3 M Sport. At that time, many people suspected that this could be a fake license plate, because the character “51D” is originally for trucks in Ho Chi Minh City or Huan “Hoa Hong” did not really own it, just showing off photos to live a virtual life.

In early February, the VF3 with license plate 51D-999.99 reappeared in Vinhomes Ocean Park urban area, with the "Taxi" sign on the roof, making netizens admire the owner's generosity. However, recently, on some roads in Hanoi , people accidentally came across this license plate with five 9s attached to a Chinese electric car - BYD Han. This is a luxury sedan model of BYD with a listed price of 1.489 billion VND.

The fact that two cars had the same VIP license plate within half a year once again made netizens "curious" about the legality of the license plate and the unique hobby of this anonymous car tycoon. According to the investigation, the registration agency confirmed that the BYD Han with license plate 51D-999.99 is a real license plate. The owner completed the vehicle registration procedure in Hanoi in August 2025.

It is worth noting that the owner of this expensive license plate is not Bui Xuan Huan - the real name of Huan "Hoa Hong". Thus, it can be understood that the above five-digit 9 license plate has been personally identified with the auction winner in November 2024. This owner used to own a VF3 in January 2025, then revoked the license plate and transferred it to register a BYD Han.
