Binh Dinh rewards students who won silver medals at the Asian Informatics Olympiad

(NLDO) – The Vietnamese team won 1 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze medals at the Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad (APIO) held from May 17 to 18.

On the afternoon of May 28, the Provincial Party Committee and People's Committee of Binh Dinh province held a meeting to honor teachers and students with excellent achievements at the Asia- Pacific Informatics Olympiad (APIO) 2025.

At the ceremony, the provincial leaders presented a letter of commendation from Binh Dinh Provincial Party Secretary Ho Quoc Dung and a certificate of merit from the Chairman of Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee to Le Kien Thanh - a 12th grade IT student at Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted (Quy Nhon City). Thanh has just won a silver medal at the 2025 Asia- Pacific Informatics Olympiad.

At the same time, Ms. Nguyen Thi Kieu, Thanh's homeroom teacher and IT teacher for 3 years, was also awarded a certificate of merit by the Chairman of Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee for her silent and persistent contributions in guiding students to achieve international achievements.

The APIO 2025 exam, hosted by Uzbekistan, was held online from May 17 to 18, bringing together 868 students from 42 countries and territories.

The Vietnamese team achieved high results with 1 gold medal, 2 silver and 3 bronze, ranking 5th overall, only after IT powerhouses such as China, Russia, Japan and South Korea.

Not stopping there, Le Kien Thanh continued to be selected for the Vietnamese team to participate in the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) 2025, scheduled to take place in Bolivia from July 27 to August 3.

This is the second consecutive time Binh Dinh has had students enter the IOI team.

Speaking at the ceremony, Binh Dinh Provincial Party Secretary Ho Quoc Dung emphasized that in the context of the 4.0 industrial revolution and the strong development of AI, the fact that Binh Dinh students conquer intellectual playgrounds at the continental and world levels is of special significance.

This is not only a personal achievement but also demonstrates the province's strong transformation in the direction of developing high-quality human resources.

Mr. Ho Quoc Dung said that Thanh's achievement is a clear demonstration of the spirit of overcoming difficulties and studiousness of Binh Dinh students, while spreading inspiration and fueling the desire to conquer knowledge and master technology in the local young generation.
