Binh Duong province's metro line No. 1 connecting Binh Duong New City to Suoi Tien, Ho Chi Minh City, is expected to start construction in 2027 and be completed in 2031.

This information is stated in the Pre-feasibility Study Report of Urban Railway Line No. 1 Project (Binh Duong New City - Suoi Tien, Ho Chi Minh City) and approved by the People's Committee of Binh Duong province at the 86th meeting held on March 13.

According to the pre-feasibility study report, the starting point of the Project is at station S1, the center of Binh Duong New City (Hoa Phu ward, Thu Dau Mot city) and the end point connects to Suoi Tien bus station of metro line No. 1 of Ho Chi Minh City.

The project has a total length of 32.43 km, including a 29 km main line and a 3.42 km connecting section to the depot.

Urban railway line No. 1 will pass through 4 cities: Tan Uyen, Thu Dau Mot, Thuan An and Di An with 19 stations and 1 depot in Phu Chanh ward, Tan Uyen city.

This metro line is invested with double track, 1,435 mm gauge, design speed of 120 km/h with total investment of 64,370 billion VND.

According to the plan of Binh Duong Provincial People's Committee, the project will start construction in 2027 and be completed and put into operation in 2031.

Speaking at the meeting, Chairman of Binh Duong Provincial People's Committee Vo Van Minh emphasized that this is the first metro line No. 1 of the province, so it is necessary to soon complete the content to submit to the National Assembly for approval of the project investment policy in May 2025.

This project is very important to create a traffic axis connecting with Ho Chi Minh City, contributing to reducing traffic congestion and creating momentum for socio -economic development for the province.

It is known that Binh Duong province is considering borrowing ODA capital in combination with budget capital to implement the construction of urban railway line No. 1.
