Specifically, on April 24, on his way to work near Ton That Tung High School on Tran Nhan Tong Street, An Hai Bac Ward, Son Tra District, Major Hoang Ngoc Thai, a soldier of the Border Guard Squadron 2 of the Da Nang City Border Guard, picked up a dark brown wallet.
Upon checking the wallet, it was found that there was some money, two ID cards in the names of Nguyen Van Nam and Nguyen Phu Quoc, and some other important documents. Immediately after picking up the wallet, Major Hoang Ngoc Thai reported to the unit commander and posted on social media to find the owner of the wallet.
At 2:00 p.m. the same day, someone contacted him to ask for his property back. After verifying the information, in the presence of the unit commander, Major Hoang Ngoc Thai returned the wallet to Mr. Nguyen Van Nam's son-in-law, Dang Hoang Anh. After receiving the very important documents of his father and brother-in-law, Dang Hoang Anh wrote a letter of thanks to the unit command and Major Hoang Ngoc Thai.
Talking about his actions, Major Hoang Ngoc Thai said: “I think picking up lost items and returning them to the owner is a normal thing to do. Surely many people who find a wallet will do the same as me, finding and returning it to the owner.”
The work of Major Hoang Ngoc Thai has demonstrated his sense of responsibility in serving the people, contributing to shining more on the qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers and spreading the beautiful image of "Border soldiers in the hearts of the people".
