The education sector is receiving great expectations and trust.

Speaking at the conference, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son emphasized that this year's conference was held at a time of many special factors, when new personnel were recruited, the apparatus was reorganized and the two-level government was operating. It was a time when the country was changing and the education sector was also operating with the country.

Emphasizing that education and training have never received as much attention as they do now, Minister Nguyen Kim Son stated that the education sector is facing many tasks, with great expectations and entrustments. "When the country is facing a breakthrough, it is impossible not to develop education and training," Minister Nguyen Kim Son affirmed, adding that this is inevitable.

The Minister emphasized: “Our challenge is not just to cope with difficulties and poverty, but to cope with the challenge of development. Our mission is so great that if we cannot develop it, it is a great mistake.”

Looking back on a year of implementing activities across the sector, Mr. Son commented: "The Education sector has accomplished many great and difficult tasks."

That is to continue implementing the 2018 General Education Program in the remaining grades. Complete the organization of the high school graduation exam with many pressures, in the new context.

Along with that, issue and implement Circular 29 on the management of extra teaching and learning at all levels. “Adjusting extra teaching and learning means adjusting the way of thinking about general education. If that cannot be done, then educational innovation will still have its limits. And this cannot be done half-heartedly, it must be done regularly,” the Minister of Education and Training emphasized.

Education is the model for the whole society.

Referring to changes in leadership personnel of the Departments of Education and Training when arranging, organizing the apparatus and operating the two-level local government, according to the Minister, at this time, it is necessary to do a good job of "managing change". If this is not done well, it will greatly affect the work being carried out by the education sector. "We do education as a model for the whole society. Therefore, in this context, we need to unite, share, be sincere and wholehearted with each other", the Minister emphasized.

Mr. Nguyen Kim Son also noted that next September, the Education sector will celebrate the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the Ministry of National Education (now the Ministry of Education and Training), and sectors and departments will organize activities with a spirit of thrift, simplicity but effectiveness for the entire sector. This is also the time to organize the opening ceremony of the new school year. The Minister said that in the new context, it is necessary to organize effectively and meaningfully.

“The opening of the new school year is also the opening of a new era for education. This is also the time to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the education sector. That affirms that we are not standing outside, not on the edge, but inside, which is the goal of national development,” the Minister emphasized.

Affirming that the keyword for this new school year is "implementing" many major policies on education and training, the Minister noted that during the implementation process, localities should try to limit confusion, and if there are any problems, they must work together to clear them up.

In implementing the program, Minister Nguyen Kim Son also emphasized the enhancement of STEM education. “The enhancement of STEM education needs to be understood correctly and fully. It is not about classrooms or robots, but a method, using knowledge to solve problems in learning and life. We must have such a mindset and education, otherwise it is just a waste of money and meaningless. That is to give students the opportunity to truly learn and must persevere in that direction,” said the Minister.

The Minister also noted the need to ensure equity in education. “Unfair investment in some public schools can also create inequality in education. Talents need special investment but equity must be ensured,” the Minister said.
