The whole country mobilized more than 70,000 students to participate in literacy classes.

In the 2024-2025 school year, the whole country mobilized 70,719 students to participate in literacy classes, of which ethnic minorities accounted for 80%. This is one of the outstanding results of the literacy program and building a learning society implemented by the Ministry of Education and Training.

Many localities have achieved positive results when 100% of district-level units organized literacy classes. Some places have flexibly opened classes at people's homes, pagodas, churches and coordinated with border guards to propagate and mobilize people, especially in border areas. The system of continuing education centers and community learning centers has closely coordinated with primary and secondary schools to implement teaching.

According to statistics, the literacy rate of level 1 and 2 in the 15-60 age group reached 99.10% and 97.72% respectively, a slight increase compared to the previous school year. However, there are still more than 2.2 million people who have not met the literacy standard, concentrated in the 36-60 age group in disadvantaged areas.

Currently, 100% of commune-level units have met the level 1 literacy standards; 98.6% have met level 2. However, there are still 8 provinces (accounting for 12.7%) that have not met the level 2 standards. 4 provinces have just raised the standards from level 1 to level 2 compared to the previous school year.

Community learning centers have attracted more than 24.5 million people to attend specialized classes, skills, and knowledge updates. Teaching content closely follows the actual needs of the people with the motto "learn what is needed".

However, some localities still face difficulties such as not being able to mobilize many people to participate in literacy training, not being able to organize classes despite support policies...
