Famous, unexpectedly in demand thanks to "billion-view hit"

- How did you feel when the song "Continuing the story of peace " suddenly went viral, reaching more than 3 billion views on social media platforms to date?

Continuing the story of peace is a very beautiful mark in my singing career. This is a lifetime hit that perhaps in the future I will hardly have any song that spreads such a large community.

The song tells a touching story about a soldier who sacrificed his youth to protect the country in both war and peacetime. During the recording process, I was moved many times and had to sing it about 4 times to complete the recording.

Right from the moment I decided to make the product, I promised myself that no matter how my career develops, I will always reserve a part of my heart for the music of my homeland and country.

- As the original singer, you must have "changed your life" thanks to the song's success?

I know I am not a big name that can create a viral effect right away with the song. Through performances and covers by many singers, the audience can access it more easily and conveniently.

The success of the song certainly helped Duyen Quynh become more famous. I was invited to perform in many places, from simple stages to big shows. I was grateful that just by introducing the song's name, the audience was excited to listen.

However, I do not think about increasing my fee because of this. The success above does not come from an individual, but from many sides. The spread of the song gives me more motivation to make many products with the same theme.

- How do you share your success with musician Nguyen Van Chung?

The success of the work was beyond my and Mr. Chung's expectations.

The entire album Continue the story of peace, consisting of 11 songs, was invested in with all our heart. Each song is a spiritual child that I cherish and send to the audience. During the process of making the product, Mr. Chung encouraged and advised us on every little detail, from harmony to arrangement.

People say that my career took off thanks to meeting musician Nguyen Van Chung, and this is very true. Of all the relationships in my career, Chung is the one who brought me many opportunities and luck.

- People say that you are favored by musician Nguyen Van Chung, the relationship is "more than brothers", what is your response?

Rumors are just rumors, so they're not true! (laughs) When people see the official sharing from me and Mr. Chung, then it's the truth. In showbiz, everyone is rumored. I just accept it calmly, gradually people will understand me.

Singer Duyen Quynh and Vo Ha Tram had a close relationship before the "incident".

- Duyen Quynh is the original singer, but on the occasion of the grand ceremony, Vo Ha Tram was chosen to perform the song, unintentionally leading to many comparisons. Does this put pressure on you?

At this important moment for the whole country, anyone can sing with the goal of spreading love for the homeland and nation.

I would like to send special thanks to Vo Ha Tram and Dong Hung for their touching performances at the ceremony.

Each singer has a different way of performing and of course will have their own audience. Thanks to the love of the public, the song has its own vitality.

Tram and I are the same age, classmates at the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music. However, to me, Tram is a senior, talented and dedicated to her profession.

Over the years, I have taken Tram as a role model to try and develop myself on the musical path.

Used to distribute flyers, wanted to quit because singing wasn't enough to make a living

- How is the relationship between you and Vo Ha Tram after the "incident"?

On the day of the rehearsal for the show on April 30, Tram texted me and said: "It's getting noisy again, everyone, let's try our best!"

Until now, the two still often text and chat. They both have made an appointment to meet soon to share more.

Unfortunately, everyone has been busy these past few days. If I'm busy, Tram is busy tenfold because she has to take care of her family and small children.

- What was the difficult period in your career?

I was born in the Central Highlands, my family did not have much economic conditions. From a young age, I showed a talent for singing, wanting to become a singer.

In the countryside, people do not trust this profession, partly because they are afraid that I, a girl in the city, will get into trouble.

Entering the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music was a struggle for me and my family. Every month, my mother gave me a sum of money for tuition. I had to take on many extra jobs such as: distributing flyers, performing for the public, singing at weddings… to earn more income to cover living expenses.

After graduating, I joined the choir at the conservatory, then joined the backing group. There was a period when I thought about quitting the profession because of financial difficulties, the income from singing was not enough to live on.

More than anyone else, I am aware that I have a limited singing voice. I spend time following my friends and siblings, learning from their experiences to draw lessons, and gradually my skills improve. Maybe thanks to God's grace, I met noble people, received help and guidance.

Duyen Quynh works hard to take good care of her family.

- What is the most meaningful thing in your life right now?

In 2017, my mother passed away after a serious illness. I only had my father as a support, so I often called and texted him to confide in him. Whenever I felt pressured, I spent time going back to my hometown to create positive energy to move forward.

Thanks to my efforts to save, my life is temporarily stable, I have a house and a car so I can work with peace of mind. I am still single, hoping to soon meet the right person to build a home.
