Mr. Ho Minh Truong, Van Lien Huong Mausoleum Management Board, said: At around 1:00 p.m. on August 2, while fishing for seafood in Lien Huong waters, about 18 nautical miles from shore, local fishermen discovered a 12-meter-long, 6-ton whale drifting at sea.

After discovering it, at around 5 p.m. the same day, people used a boat to bring the whale's body to the Ganh area near Van Lien Huong Tomb to carry out burial procedures according to local people's beliefs.
It is known that according to the concept of fishermen in the sea, whales are respectfully called "Mr. Whales" by fishermen. Mr. Whales often help fishermen when they catch seafood, as well as save them when they encounter trouble at sea. Those who discover Mr. Whales must mourn for 3 years.
