Prime Minister Hun Manet affirmed that Cambodia's fuel import companies have enough capacity to source fuel and gas from other countries to meet domestic demand, even if the suspension lasts.
“Whether it is for a month or indefinitely, Cambodia has the ability to manage the situation effectively,” said Hun Manet, stressing that all relevant agencies must strictly comply with the order, while instructing import businesses to prepare for a smooth and stable transition to alternative sources of supply.
Previously, on June 22, Prime Minister Hun Manet ordered the closure of two border gates into Thailand in response to Thailand's decision to close a border gate in Buri Ram province on June 21.
According to the World Bank (WB), Thailand is Cambodia's third largest trading partner in 2022, with import turnover reaching 3.8 billion USD, of which fuel accounts for 27%.
