In recent years, Ha Huy Tap Street (Yen Vien town, Gia Lam district, Hanoi city) has often been overloaded with vehicles.

The National Highway 1A section passing through here is only about 8 to 10 meters wide, without a median strip, while receiving many trucks, containers... passing through every day.

National Highway 1A, the section from Duong Moi Bridge to the end of Gia Lam district (currently Ha Huy Tap and Dang Phuc Thong streets) is the section connecting Hanoi with Bac Ninh province.

Traffic congestion often occurs on the route, posing a potential risk to traffic safety due to changes in road cross-section between Bac Ninh and Hanoi.

Meanwhile, National Highway 1A through Tu Son city (Bac Ninh province) has a cross-section of about 30m, accommodating 6 lanes.

Previously, Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Duong Duc Tuan signed an official dispatch directing traffic organization to ensure traffic order and safety, reduce traffic congestion and propose investment policy for the project to renovate and upgrade National Highway 1A, from Duong New Bridge to the end of Gia Lam district.

To completely resolve the traffic congestion situation and invest in completing the planned route, the Hanoi People's Committee assigned the Department of Transport to preside over and coordinate with the City Police and relevant units to study and immediately implement a plan to organize traffic, regulate and separate traffic flows to ensure traffic order and safety, and avoid traffic congestion in the above-mentioned area.

Accordingly, the Department of Planning and Investment is assigned to urgently review and update the investment project of National Highway 1A, the section from Duong New Bridge to the end of Gia Lam district mentioned above, into the city's medium-term public investment plan for 2021-2025, and report to the City People's Committee.
