Need drastic and effective solutions to ensure food safety

Food safety is always a top concern of society, especially when more and more cases related to the production and trading of fake and poor quality food are discovered. Notably, recently, the police have continuously dismantled many fake milk and fake functional food production lines, showing the complexity, sophistication and danger of crimes in this field.

In the first quarter of 2025, the country recorded dozens of violations related to the production and trade of fake food. In particular, there were cases where authorities seized thousands of boxes of fake milk powder, imitating famous brands that were smuggled into stores, agents, and even hospitals and schools. Many types of fake functional foods are labeled as "treatment support" and "health enhancement" but contain ingredients of unknown origin, even harmful substances if used for a long time.

What is alarming is that the producers and distributors of fake food are becoming increasingly sophisticated, using packaging and labels that are very similar to genuine products, making it difficult to detect. In addition, the thriving online food market is also a big loophole for poor quality goods to sneak into the hands of consumers.

As one of the most industrialized provinces in the country, Dong Nai has a large population and is home to many industrial parks. Therefore, the demand for food consumption, especially processed foods, functional foods, milk, industrial meals, etc., is very high. Although management has been strengthened, it can be seen that this is still a field with many potential risks of insecurity, directly affecting the health of people in the province.

At the recent Conference on Deploying the Month of Action for Food Safety in 2025, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Provincial Steering Committee for Food Safety Nguyen Son Hung requested leaders of departments, branches and localities to raise awareness of the importance of food safety and hygiene, and at the same time, to have drastic and effective solutions, avoiding the situation of working perfunctorily in this field. Because food safety is not only a public health issue, but also a decisive factor in the sustainable development of the economy and society. Resolutely handling violations from the root will contribute significantly to protecting people and building a safe and civilized consumer environment.
