According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, recently, some media have reported that the inspection of carry-on luggage at the check-in area and boarding gates of airlines and ground service units is unprofessional, causing inconvenience to passengers and affecting the image and service quality of the aviation industry.
Review of carry-on baggage control procedures
To ensure safety, on-time departure for each flight and improve service quality, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam requests airlines and ground service units to quickly review the hand luggage control process at the check-in area and boarding gate to avoid congestion, create convenience for passengers; use standard luggage weighing equipment, ensuring aesthetics.
At the same time, increase the dissemination of the airline's baggage transport regulations on the website, ticket offices and agent system, as well as educate passenger service staff on service attitude, ensuring professionalism and friendliness.
In fact, not only Vietnamese airlines apply weighing equipment to check passengers' carry-on luggage right in front of the plane's exit, but in the world, some airlines such as: Ryanair, Wizz Air, ANA, JAL, AirAsia, Southwest Airlines, Delta Airlines... have also strictly controlled cabin luggage to ensure safety, correct weight and maintain service standards on board.
Carrying too much baggage can delay boarding and disembarking. Every extra kilo in the cabin affects the balance of the aircraft, the amount of fuel, and the time it takes to close the doors for on-time departure. Every minute late at the gate can slow down the entire chain of operations.
Therefore, when airlines tighten carry-on baggage regulations, it is not to make things difficult for passengers but to ensure flight safety, cut fuel costs and keep take-off times on time.
