On December 11, leaders of Da Nang Port worked with a delegation from the City Department of Tourism on many issues requiring cooperation between the two sides, especially the reception of international cruise ships through Tien Sa Port.
At the meeting, the representative of the Da Nang Department of Tourism proposed that Da Nang Port coordinate to organize the reception of cruise ships via Tien Sa Port. Specifically, it is necessary to strengthen the facilities at Tien Sa Port to serve cruise ship passengers; improve the capacity to receive the number of cruise ships docking at the port as well as increase the port docking time of cruise ships.
The delegation of the Da Nang Department of Tourism also proposed that Da Nang Port have a plan to survey and exchange experiences with international ports specializing in operating and serving cruise tourists in order to orient Tien Sa Port to become a departure port for cruise tourists...
Deputy General Director of Da Nang Port Duong Duc Xuan expressed his support for the policies of Da Nang City in general and the Department of Tourism in particular on developing cruise tourism. He said that in recent times, Da Nang Port has closely coordinated with the city's functional agencies and tourism and service units and businesses to welcome cruise ships to Tien Sa Port.
However, in recent years, Da Nang Port's output and revenue have mainly focused on goods through Tien Sa Port, while cruise ships only account for 0.65% of revenue and profit. In particular, currently at Tien Sa Port, only 2/5 large berths can accommodate large cruise ships, limiting the number of ships and the length of time cruise ships stay at the port.

In response to the requests made by the Da Nang Department of Tourism, the leaders of Da Nang Port requested the leaders of the Department to report and advise the leaders of the City to propose to the Ministry of Transport and competent authorities to create conditions for Tien Sa Port to be licensed to receive cruise ships at the remaining ports to increase operational efficiency and facilitate the reception and arrangement of passenger ships and cargo ships at the port.
According to Mr. Duong Duc Xuan, granting licenses to the remaining wharves of Tien Sa port to receive passenger ships is also the basis for gradually converting the function of Tien Sa port into a tourist port after 2030, after Lien Chieu port area is put into operation.
At the same time, Da Nang Port proposed that local authorities, central ministries and the Government soon have a resettlement plan for Tien Sa Port to ensure the cargo circulation activities that Da Nang Port has carried out over the past 123 years, ensuring jobs for nearly 1,000 workers at the unit.
