Ca Mau Airport temporarily suspends operations for 1 year to implement upgrade project

(PLVN) - Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) has just announced the temporary closure of Ca Mau Airport. Accordingly, Ca Mau Airport will close from 7:00 a.m. on October 30, 2025 to 11:59 p.m. on October 31, 2026 (local time) to implement the Ca Mau Airport expansion and upgrade project.

Previously, in order to implement the Decision of the Ministry of Construction on the temporary closure of Ca Mau Airport, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam sent a document to the People's Committee of Ca Mau province, the Immigration Department of the Ministry of Public Security and relevant agencies and units in the aviation industry to inform about the time of temporary closure of the Airport.

At the same time, the Department requested ACV and Ca Mau Airport to fully comply with legal regulations on investment and construction during the temporary closure of the Airport to implement project items; preside over and coordinate with the construction unit to organize construction in compliance with the plan to ensure security, safety, fire prevention and fighting and environmental sanitation and take all responsibilities related to ensuring security, safety of exploitation, fire prevention and fighting, environmental sanitation, labor safety and disease prevention during construction.

In addition, strengthen inspection and supervision forces, maintain conditions to ensure security, safety, fire prevention, environmental sanitation, and disease prevention during construction.

In addition, the Department requested the Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation to make appropriate aviation information announcements in accordance with current regulations; the Southern Airports Authority to strengthen inspection and supervision of security, safety, fire and explosion prevention, environmental sanitation and disease prevention during construction; and strictly handle organizations and individuals who violate regulations.

According to ACV, once completed, the project will help Ca Mau Airport improve its operational efficiency and meet new technical standards, as well as contribute to better serving the socio- economic development and defense-security needs of the region.

The project to expand and upgrade Ca Mau Airport was started by ACV on August 19 with the goal of expanding, upgrading, and ensuring the operation of modern aircraft such as A320, A321 and equivalent. Total investment capital: about VND 2,400 billion from ACV's capital. Completion time and expected operation in October 2026.
