According to Reuters news agency, the US State Department has issued a global security warning for US citizens abroad due to increased tensions in various locations around the world and the possibility of extremist and violent attacks against Americans.

The warning did not name any specific incidents, but came amid escalating conflict in the Middle East, after the Islamist Hamas movement attacked Israel on October 7 and Israel retaliated with airstrikes on the Gaza Strip that killed thousands of people.
Protests also erupted in the West Bank, Iran, Jordan, Lebanon, Tunisia and elsewhere after the October 17 attack on a hospital in the Gaza Strip. Palestinian officials accused Israel of carrying out the attack, which Israel denied. Meanwhile, the US said it had data showing that Israel did not carry out the deadly attack.
In a related development, US Attorney General Merrick Garland said the department is monitoring an increase in threats against Jewish, Muslim and Arab communities in the US related to the current Israel-Hamas conflict.
