Warning about impersonating social insurance officers to scam people

Recently, the Social Insurance Agency of Region XVI has received complaints from people and employees about some individuals impersonating social insurance agency officials calling, texting, and sending links of unknown origin, asking people and employers to update personal information.

Accordingly, the subjects often use the excuse that "the electronic social insurance transaction system will change from July 1, 2025, if not updated, transactions will be interrupted, pensions and health insurance cards will not be received"... to create panic and appropriate information. This is a sophisticated fraud method, potentially causing the risk of losing the safety of people's personal data and assets.

Nguyen Van Dung, Deputy Director of Social Insurance Region XVI, affirmed: “Social Insurance Region XVI and District Social Insurance have no policy of calling, texting Zalo or sending links or QR codes asking people to provide personal information, citizen identification cards or VssID application passwords.

Information updates are only done directly at the Social Security agency or through official platforms such as the National Public Service Portal, the Vietnam Social Security Public Service Portal and the VssID application - Social Security number."

Faced with the above situation, the Social Insurance of Region XVI recommends that people need to be vigilant, only receive social insurance and health insurance information from official sources; absolutely do not provide personal information, passwords, OTP codes via strange links or applications of unknown origin; at the same time, proactively notify the authorities when detecting signs of impersonation and fraud for timely handling and protection of legitimate rights.

In the process of performing administrative procedures related to social insurance, health insurance, and unemployment insurance, people and participating units should contact the social insurance agency directly or perform them on the National Public Service Portal, the Vietnam Social Insurance Public Service Portal, or on the VssID application. Or contact the phone number of the department receiving and returning administrative procedure results of the Social Insurance Region XVI.
