Billionaire Isak Andic, 71 years old, founder of famous fashion chain Mango, died on December 14 during a hiking trip in Spain.
According to a police spokesman, the billionaire accidentally slipped and fell more than 100m down a cliff while hiking with relatives inside the Montserrat cave near Barcelona.
In a statement, Mango CEO Toni Ruiz expressed his condolences for Andic's sudden passing, and praised the Mango founder's lifelong dedication.
Mr. Andic is of Turkish descent and immigrated to the Catalonia region of Spain with his family when he was 13. With the help of his brother Nahman, Mr. Andic opened the first Mango store in 1984, located in Barcelona’s famous shopping district Paseo de Gracia. The store has since grown into a company and then a conglomerate.
Mango is now one of the leading international fashion groups, present in more than 120 markets and with 15,500 employees worldwide. Last year, the fashion company's total revenue was 3.1 billion euros (about 3.26 billion USD). Meanwhile, Mr. Andic's net worth at the moment is 4.5 billion USD.
