On May 29, Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee informed that it had received Official Dispatch No. 2222 dated May 20, 2025 from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, agreeing with the Provincial People's Committee on preparing a dossier on the Dien Khanh Citadel Site (Dien Khanh District) to submit to the Prime Minister for consideration and ranking as a special national relic.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism also noted the name of the relic, suggesting that the province consider using the name "Dien Khanh Citadel". At the same time, it suggested that the Provincial People's Committee direct the relevant agencies to compile a dossier on the relic and send it to the Department of Cultural Heritage (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism).

Accordingly, the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa province assigned the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to preside over and coordinate with relevant agencies, units and localities to implement; report and advise the Provincial People's Committee in the fourth quarter of 2025.
Dien Khanh Citadel was built in 1793, on an area of 3.5 hectares, 2,600m long, 3.5m high walls, was the political and administrative center of Khanh Hoa from 1802 to 1945. This work was ranked as a national historical and cultural relic in 1988.
In the past, the citadel had 6 entrances and exits, but now there are only 4 gates: East, West, Back (North Gate) and Front Gate. The Left and Right gates were filled in 1823. At the end of 2024, Khanh Hoa province began to restore and embellish the Dien Khanh Citadel relic with a budget of more than 166 billion VND, expected to be completed at the end of 2025.
