Mobilize many resources to care
The family of Tran Duy Nam (13 years old) and Tran Ngoc Khanh Ngan (5 years old, in Dien Tan commune, Dien Khanh district) is in difficult circumstances. Unable to bear the poverty, the father left home, leaving Mrs. Tran Thi Thanh Nhung (mother of the two children) to raise the children alone. Mrs. Nhung is in poor health, has no stable job, and has to do whatever people hire her to do, so the life of the mother and three children is always lacking. Knowing the family's circumstances, the Provincial Center for Social Protection and Social Work mobilized organizations and benefactors to support the livelihood of the two children so that Mrs. Nhung can raise her children to study. With nearly 10 million VND in support, Mrs. Nhung bought raw materials and tools to open a shop selling fried banana cakes, sugarcane juice and a small grocery store at home. Working hard, Mrs. Nhung earns more than 200,000 VND a day to take care of her two children's education. Not only that, the locality also supported 40 million VND to build a new house for the mother and child, more than 40 square meters wide...

According to Ms. Nguyen Dinh Hong Loan - Director of the Provincial Center for Social Protection and Social Work, the unit has strengthened connections with international organizations and businesses to create resources to care for children to develop comprehensively. In particular, Holt International Children's Services in Vietnam maintains 5 projects to support nearly 260 poor children with an amount of more than 1.1 billion VND/year. Association Susann's Help for children supports more than 1.6 billion VND to carry out humanitarian aid activities for poor children. In addition, from 2024 to present, the center has actively mobilized to build the Provincial Children's Support Fund with more than 900 million VND. From this source of funding, more than 2,500 gifts, 170 scholarships; support 3 children with heart disease . The unit also mobilized businesses and medical facilities to support heart surgery for nearly 20 children with a total amount of more than 4 billion VND.
Currently, the province has 20 public and non-public social protection facilities that nurture and care for nearly 400 abandoned and homeless children. Most of them receive regular health check-ups, attend public schools, receive psychological counseling and life skillseducation , and participate in activities to help children develop comprehensively; 100% of children under social protection receive monthly allowances. Every year, 98.86% of students participate in health insurance and receive regular health check-ups, management records, medicine distribution, and care. In addition, the effective implementation of the Child Nutrition Improvement Project has contributed to narrowing the gap in stunting malnutrition in children in regions; nutrition rehabilitation activities such as providing vitamin A, distributing nutritional products, and deworming children have been well implemented...
Child protection at 3 levels
According to Mr. Trinh Ngoc Hiep - Deputy Director of the Department of Health, currently, the whole province has more than 266,700 children, accounting for 21% of the population. Of which, there are more than 23,000 ethnic minority children, more than 3,100 children in special circumstances. The rate of children in special circumstances being protected and cared for is 99.5%. The implementation of basic rights of children is getting better and better, creating all conditions for children to live in a safe and friendly environment. Child protection and care work is well implemented at all 3 levels: Prevention, support and intervention.

Implementing the prevention level, communication, education and consultation activities have been enhanced with nearly 300,000 participants/year. Consulting activities on child protection and care, providing knowledge and skills to prevent and combat abuse, accidents, injuries, social evils, etc. have been strongly implemented. The experience program "I am a firefighter" has equipped nearly 2,000 children and parents with escape and fire prevention skills each year. The police force together with high schools focus on educating nearly 3,000 students/year about the methods and tricks of various crimes, social evils, the consequences of drugs, and the harmful effects of e-cigarettes. All educational institutions in the province have included traffic safety in their official curriculum to educate students.
At the support level, all levels, sectors and localities have paid attention to investing and building nearly 120 entertainment and recreation spots for children. Every year, on the occasion of Lunar New Year, more than 6,000 children received gifts with a total cost of nearly 1.3 billion VND. In 2024, during the Month of Action for Children, the whole province spent more than 5 billion VND to award scholarships, examine and treat more than 72,000 children; during the Mid-Autumn Festival, more than 235,300 children participated in entertainment and received gifts with a total cost of more than 8.5 billion VND. From 2024 to now, the "Godmother" Program has been widely deployed by women's associations at all levels to support 643 orphans with a level from 200,000 VND to 2 million VND/child/month. Every year, the health sector proactively conducts periodic health check-ups for 2,667 disabled children; Call for and connect support sources for orthopedic surgery, cleft lip, cleft palate, and congenital heart surgery for dozens of children.

At the intervention level, the Provincial Center for Social Protection and Social Work received and promptly consulted 276 information about children; received 18 children in need of urgent protection. The Provincial Center for State Legal Aid participated in litigation to protect the rights and legitimate interests of 9 children, legal aid cases, mainly in the criminal field. In addition, the police force investigated and handled 29 subjects who committed acts of abuse against 28 children...
The Action Month for Children 2025 takes place from June 1 to 30 with the theme "Prioritizing resources to complete goals for children".
