Since the beginning of 2022, the District Women's Union has developed a specific plan and deployed the program to grassroots associations. Through review, the district has 32 orphans in difficult circumstances, including 11 children who lost relatives due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The Women's Union at all levels has sponsored 100% of the children, of which 17 children have been committed to support until they are 18 years old.
Not only taking care of material things, the “godmothers” and the Association’s staff also pay much attention to the spiritual life and studies of the children. On holidays and festivals such as Lunar New Year, International Children’s Day, Mid-Autumn Festival, etc., the children are organized to have fun activities, exchange, receive gifts and scholarships, thereby adding joy and motivation for them to overcome their circumstances and move forward in life.
Vo Trung Tin (13 years old, residing in Tri Binh commune) is one of the cases that the Association has accepted to sponsor. His father passed away due to Covid-19, his mother went to work as a restaurant assistant, raising two young children and taking care of his elderly grandparents. Understanding his family's situation, Tin soon learned to help his mother, take care of his younger siblings and always try to study well.
“I know my family’s situation, so I always try to study well to make my mother happy and help with the housework. I am very grateful to the women at the Women’s Union for always caring and helping me to ease the difficulties in life,” Tin shared while receiving a gift from the Union.
Tran Vu Linh (9 years old, living in Dong Khoi commune) is also a case that makes many people emotional. Orphaned at a very young age, Linh currently lives with her aunt. Life is still difficult, but thanks to the constant care of the local Women's Union, she is still able to go to school and receive warm gifts on holidays and Tet.
Ms. Tran Thi Nuong - President of the Women's Union of Dong Khoi commune shared: "We often visit, encourage and give Linh practical gifts such as school supplies, milk, and necessities. Although Linh is still young, she is very understanding, obedient and always knows how to obey."
Thanks to the program's profound humanitarian meaning, from 2022 to present, many organizations and individuals have accompanied the Association, joining hands to care for orphans. The total mobilized resources reached more than 1 billion VND. Of which, many children received monthly support from 300,000 to 500,000 VND. In addition, the Women's Union at all levels and philanthropists also regularly donate necessities, scholarships, bicycles, and school supplies, contributing to sharing the burden in the children's lives.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Nhan - President of the Women's Union of Chau Thanh district shared: "We always hope that each gift, each helping hand is a spiritual support, helping children feel secure in studying and rising up in life. Behind the children, there is always the Union organization, there are second mothers silently following and supporting.
In the coming time, the Association will continue to review and mobilize more social resources to expand the number of sponsored children, while maintaining long-term support, not only materially but also spiritually, helping them develop comprehensively and have a brighter future."
With the support of the Association and kind hearts, orphans in Chau Thanh are being supported every day, growing up in love and gaining more confidence to move forward firmly.
